This bundle contains assessment and practice for 120 of the Kindergarten through First Grade sight words. I created this resource to supplement the reading program I currently use in my classroom, however it can be used with any reading program. My students, many of whom are learning English as a Second Language, struggle with learning how to read sight words. Research shows that students need multiple exposures to, and repetitive practice with, these types of non-decodable words in order to learn how to read and write them. This pack includes a variety of engaging activities that will help students master 120 of the Kindergarten to First Grade sight words (combination of Dolch/Fry Word Lists). This resource is not grade specific, as it can benefit students who are reading at a Kindergarten to First Grade level. The words targeted in this resource are: Set 1G: I, see, love, my, a, is, this, the, here, are, like, to, be, with, on, will, come, go, in, has, it, big, an, and, little, lots, can, get, can’t, all, she, look, for, there, at, he, do, one, where, live, who, have, why, want, that, yes, you, said, was, up, am, went, down, had, we, no, me, of, they, what. Sight Words Assessment and Practice (1G Words) Set 2G: some, make, too, her, house, out, when, his, boy, good, give, take, as, many, put, day, new, got, girl, came, play, over, jump, or, fun, were, stop, going, your, by, saw, oh, ran, home, happy, says, from, these, gave, did, him, if, into, now, goes, under, about, does, but, could, them, off, then, would, eat, animal, how, not, our, so. Sight Words Assessment and Practice (2G Words) The 120 words are divided into manageable lists of ten words as well as mini word lists of 5 words. All students are assessed and begin working on the word list and activities they are struggling with. The activities help them read the sight words in context, as well as in isolation. Since reading and writing are reciprocal processes, I have included writing activities as well. Once students master a list, they move on to the next list/level. I hope this resource helps your students master sight words and become confident readers! Thank you!
