I was really looking forward to going back to the gym. I thought I could do the same exercices I was doing before my surgery. However, it wasn't as easy as I'd imagined. After 15-20 minutes of brisk walking on the treadmill, I was drenched in sweat and I was already tired... That's when I understood

The ultimate guide to clothing for women with an ostomy! From lingerie to dresses, see what real women wear after surgery.
Generally, I never considered that I had to stop doing the things I did before my ostomy, so when I recovered from surgery I simply carried on. Oh sure, of course I worried about how to keep my ostomy
Spoonies! Check out our ostomy bag cover that features an adjustable elastic stoma opening. The elastic cover is designed to CINCH tightly around your stoma for a more custom, form-fitting experience to protect your bag from outside elements. Say goodbye to leaks and stains with an extra layer of security between your ostomy bag and clothing. This cover is made to be lightweight and water-resistant just like the Spoonie Thread covers you already know and love. Sizing is easy to figure out and compatible with all pouch brands! Need to empty your pouch while you're on-the-go? Our flip-bottom design lets you empty your pouch with the cover on. No fuss, no mess. Please note this product is water resistant but not 100% waterproof, it does not have a watertight seal around the flange and the bottom flap may allow water inside the cover during activities like showering. You certainly can wear it in the shower, but it may not keep your pouch completely dry.
The last of the Mickey Mouse covers!! I have been unable to find more of this popular fabric and until I do, this is the very last one. Mickey Mouse says "You're NOT the Boss of Me"! A great attitude to have toward your stoma. My hope is to make a inexpensive pouch cover that is comfortable to wear and will help any ostomate feel confident about themselves while they journey through this world. Smaller than commercially made covers, these are just under 8” long and 6” wide. They are designed to fold up about 1” of the bottom of your collection pouch, which gives them a much smaller profile. The design allows for easy access for both emptying waste and releasing gas accumulation. (See 2nd & 3rd photos ) A lining adds stability without bulk and gives an added bonus of absorbing small leeks before your clothes are stained. These covers are made to fit a variety of pouching systems. I make them with a 1 3/4” opening; a simple pattern is included to cut the opening larger, up to a 3” maximum. (See 4th photo) Have no fear! If you can cut your flange, cutting a cover will be a snap! The covers are 100% cotton fabric that has been pre-washed for shrinkage and are machine washable. However, like so many things, if you hand wash them, they will last longer. I offer a wide and ever changing variety of colors and prints. Some fabrics are readily available, some I may never find again. The pattern quantities are listed below. These covers are for daytime use only! The covers are slightly smaller than your ostomy pouch and will not allow it to expand to it’s maximum capacity. Wearing the cover while sleeping can cause leakage and is not recommended, particularly if you are prone to nighttime gas accumulation. PLEASE NOTE: Once cut, covers are not returnable.
If you have raw and weepy skin around your stoma, you may be told to use the “crusting technique”. This article (and video) will explain more.
