Light pollution is a relatively unknown form of pollution that refers to excessive or obtrusive artificial light. Here are some of the facts about light pollution that you must be aware of: 1. According to the International Dark-Sky Association, light pollution is any adverse effect of artificial light including sky glow, glare, light trespass, light clutter, decreased visibility at night, and energy waste. 2. Light pollution usually occurs in large urban areas and is known to reduce the visibility of stars. 3. Light pollution disrupts ecosystems and disrupts food web, making it especially difficult for nocturnal animals and insects.
