I apologize for being so behind this year on my blog this year! I've had so many other things going on with an action research PDP, Student Learning Targets and PBIS/CHAMPS that have been implemented that I haven't had a lot of time to update projects from this year. It's going to be my goal to update more regularly! I hope everyone has had a great first half of the year! The first week of school I always start out with a school wide collaboration project. It's a great way to get the kids involved in art on the first day instead of only going over expectations and it's also a fabulous way to get artwork up after the first week of school! We look at the artist Keith Haring and did giant posters of figures. I actually had the kiddos get on the floor and trace their bodies and then each class throughout the day continued on they same poster. So by the end of the day I had 4-6 posters done!

When I was packing away the Christmas decorations, I hesitated at the bag of pinecones, and decided to keep them out rather than say goodbye to them for another year. I'd seen some fantastic yarn-wrapped pinecones on Pinterest, and thought I could raid my yarn stash to have a go at making some myself. Rather than

DIY KANDINSKY CIRCLES FELT BOARD: ARTIST PROJECT FOR KIDS
An easy peasy way to draw an exceptionally tall giant! Age: Upper primary Resources: paper, pencil, eraser, watercolour paint, ruler What you do: STEPS 1- 4 I have drawn in pen so you can see! You do it all in light pencil because you are going to need to rub some lines out before you paint. 1) Using a pencil on A4 white paper draw a point in the middle of the top and one at the middle of the bottom. Join these lines using a ruler. Then draw a line from the top middle to each bottom edge. 2) Next, draw a line about 2 cm from the top and one about 5 cm from the top. These are for the head and the waist lines. Then draw a head, a waist and arms. 3) Now add curved trouser bottoms and curved shoes. 4) Draw the sides of the boots and the soles then add the eyelets and laces. Add the sleeves of the shirt, braces and curves lines for the waist. Draw the giants face. Erase all the lines you don't need now. 5) Paint with watercolours. Add a background. This idea came from Usborne Art Ideas: Big Book of Things to Draw
