The chromolithographic print came from a nurseryman's catalogue printed in the 1890s (with one source placing the date at 1886) by the Stecher Lith. Co. in Rochester, N.Y.. The rare catalogue -- some of which are currently sold for over $7000.-- came in the form of a stack of brightly coloured prints of fruits, plants, and trees that resemble flash cards. The nurseryman used to carry them around and would sometimes make notes on them. The original rare print was sold on our sister Etsy store, Bananastrudel, and is no longer available at that shop. This scanned image, however, provides an opportunity to get a digital copy of the print. (The Digitalstrudel watermark does not appear on the downloaded image.)
