Can you believe Easter is only three weeks away? The most holy of our holidays is right around the corner and even though I don't officially celebrate Lent, I do try to spend time preparing my heart. I've been enjoying the last few weeks reading and Bible journaling through a few of my favorite Easter passages. I know this is very last minute but I wanted to share with you the crafts I will be working on with my Sunday School Preschoolers tomorrow. The story I am going to go over is when Jesus came to Jerusalem and people praised him and laid palm branches and coats on the ground in front of him. (Matthew 21:1-11, 15-16; Mark 11:1-10) Tomorrow on Easter Sunday, I was told I had to teach my class for a whole 2 hours because of the Easter service! I was sadden by this news since I was going to miss Easter service and the baptism. So because of the extra hour, I needed to come up with more fun activities! Since my lesson was focusing on Jesus entering Jerusalem, I was going to let the students role play the scene of laying down the palm branches and coats as he rode down the street on a donkey. Here is the palm branch craft I came up with: Very cute right? Palm Branch Craft: What you need: green construction paper, scissors, green puffy paint, green glitter, flower tape, pipe cleaners, tape. Here is a Palm Branch Template for those who want it. I drew mine by hand. Steps: Cut the template and add a piper cleaner in the middle of the palm branch. I used tape because I ran out of elmer's glue at home. You can use either since this is on the back for a sturdy support. Then use the flower tape to wrap the handle. Cut the diagonal lines. Use the green puffy paint to add lines on the palm branch. (Adults may need to help the younger ones) Put green glitter on the palm branches and shake onto paper plate. Then let it dry! Jelly Bean Easter Craft I used Kim Mitzo Thompson's Easter Jelly Bean Craft patterns and revised it for a different project for my preschoolers. Check out her freebie above to download at the original craft. Thanks Kim for the inspiration! What you need: Jelly Bean pattern, crayons/markers, paper plates, scissors, yarn, glue, single hole puncher Steps: Color the jelly beans and cut them out. Write a bible verse, poem, or whatever you like in the middle of the paper plate. Glue on each of the jelly beans around the plate. Punch a hole at the top and add string. Then hang it up! I love shark story times - I really do! There are so many books for shark story times, it is crazy! I expanded my shark story time to include other ocean creatures though because, well, I have two felt sets I wanted to use ONE MORE TIME! How could a minnow and a shark be best friends? A wonderful book about friendship in the face of peer pressure. I just love this book. Fang and Minnow are as different as they could be. It doesn't matter if everyone thinks they shouldn't be friends, because they know they absolutely should. I totally forgot I made this for my ocean story time last year. GAH how CUTE!!! Lovely! You guessed it!! This one is based on the Three Little Pigs. You HAVE to go BIG on this one. I have great voices I use when reading this book. Spoiler! No one dies in the end. But there is definitely the scary factor with the shark. Now we come to our special song! I know perhaps five songs on the ukulele. With three chords, you can do almost anything though! I love to change the words to my standards. I probably found this one online somewhere, but it is SO something I would do, so I did it. This is to the tune of Wheels on the Bus. Come on everyone, sing along!! The fish in the sea go swim, swim, swim. (make your hand like a fin and swim along!) Swim, swim, swim, Swim, swim, swim. There's a shark in the park!! Silly Timothy Pope. There's no shark in the park. Or is there? The kids really enjoyed seeing the telescope effect of the holes cut through the center of the book. For my craft, I asked my village friends to borrow these great daubers. I love them for safe, clean(ish) painting. The kids love working with them, and the mom's appreciate them. It is an up front investment, but they last a long time. We made a fish! The kids could cut the mouth (which becomes the tail) and decorate any way they wanted. I just did a few spring colored dots for demonstration, but they could paint stripes or whatever they wanted. We also attached a string so they could hang their craft later. I never tire of this theme. I hope it gives you a good preview for some summer story times. Thanks for stopping by!!

Gather cookie dough, icing, red M&Ms, and a gingerbread cookie cutter. Roll out the cookie dough and use the cookie cutter to create gingerbread cutouts. Bake the cookies. Once the cookies have cooled, ice them. Finally, add red M&Ms as spots. Naaman had a lot of red spots on his skin and the spots hurt. Naaman was told by God’s friend to take seven baths in a river to get better. He knew seven baths would be hard, but he did it and got better. God’s way is perfect!

Here is a game that you can print out and play at home. The game goes through the events of the Easter story. Roll the dice and move forward that number of spaces! Some spaces have an additional instruction that might provoke a question e.g. why go forward on Palm Sunday and The Last Supper (the story is moving forward first with joy and then with Jesus preparing his disciples), but go backwards at Gethsemane (a great disappointment for the disciples) and miss a turn at Jesus death and burial (the idea of waiting).
