Stay-cation is becoming a trend nowadays. With the intense heat, hardly anyone has the energy to roam around under the scorching heat. Things to do with the family have been limited to the comforts of the home but let’s give mom a break and head to Eastwood Richmonde Hotel for a family buffet. Eastwood Café of Eastwood Richmonde Hotel started to offer Weekend Family Buffet for a friendly price of PHP880 for adults, PHP440 for children age 6 to 12 years old, and FREE for kids 5 years old and below. With that price alone, it’s already pretty tempting but here’s a nice touch to it, they have a special nook for kids to play after eating. There’s also a very charming sweets station that is very eye catching. I started my buffet adventure with the salad station. They had a good mix of Filipino-style salads and the usual lettuce, carrot, tomato over Thousand Island dressing salad. My next stop was the savory stations—main course and cavery stations. The dishes were mostly Asian. I got a bit of Kare-Kare, Korean Bulgogi, and Adobong Pusit. Right beside it is the first love of my tummy, lechon or roasted pig. I had a bit of that as well. I skipped the Mongolian, Tempura, and Barbecue stations as I was too excited to eat the first dishes I picked. (Oh, my sister asked for a mantao without anything in it which puzzled the chef. I guess eating the mantao alone is not something common.) On my way to our table, I noticed that there’s also a kid’s section beside the main courses. Kids’ favorites such as hotdogs and chicken are part of the menu. I think that it’s a really good touch as they were able to factor in that kids are not that very adventurous yet when it comes to food. (Just ask Thirdy on why he kept on asking for fried chicken!) All the dishes I got were pretty good. I just hope that the lechon skin was slightly crispier. My sister enjoyed her tempura though. (Yes, she’s not really very adventurous with food. Actually, almost everyone in my family is particular with food. Don’t ask me why I’m not.) I was getting pretty stuffed after my second plate and wasn’t able to try the other dishes but seeing how the rest of the people were enjoying it, I bet those were pretty good as well. Scared not to have room for dessert, I quickly stood up as soon as I finished the food on my plate and went straight to the Filipino desserts. I got a bit of palitaw, colored pastillas, maja mais, cassava, and some fruits and marshmallows covered by chocolates. Yes, my sister and I were giggling while “bathing” our mallows. The desserts were great! I love kakanin. The pastillas though were a bit had but perfectly understandable as it really gets harder when exposed. Overall, it was a pretty good dining experience. I also really love how they turned the place to be child-friendly. Good job, Eastwood Richmonde Hotel. Eastwood Richmonde Hotel is located at 17 Orchard Road, Eastwood City, Bagumbayan, Quezon City.
