Twenty years ago this week, the Voyager 1 spacecraft captured a radical view of Earth. Shot from a distance of 4 billion miles, the "pale blue dot" image showed our planet as a tiny speck amid the vastness of space. Carl Sagan, who lobbied for the photo, said it reduced our entire world to "a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam."
Pockets of water have been detected in dust from our solar system – suggesting that life's ingredients may be spread across the universe
The rotation of the planet Saturn over a thirty-four-year period This fine original antique engraved illustration of natural history from 1892 shows the changing vantage points of the planet Saturn and its fascinating rings between the years 1862 to 1896. There's a small diagram at the bottom showing the relativity of the sizes of the planets and one of Saturn and its moons. In 1892, Saturn was our most distant planet. 1896 Chart Of Saturn' measures 8" x 10" overall. The image itself measures 8" x 6" and it's in lovely and firm condition for its age with the usual even tanning one usually finds with 130+ year-old paper (although not much at all, really.) This cool old illustration is blank on the reverse side. What a fine frame-worthy Victorian natural wonder! Matted, framed, and displayed as a gallery grouping, these wonderful old scientific prints are simply spectacular. (Please note that the framed examples in the last two photos are to show how this might look when it's matted and framed. Your print will come to you unmatted and unframed.)
