Worked top-down with circular yoke construction, the traditional colourwork pattern creates a bold folkloric aesthetic evocative of rural ceremonial dress in parts of Eastern and Northern Europe. First some short rows are worked back and forth to create a higher back neck and then the yoke is worked in the round to sleeve separation. Some last short rows are worked to finish the yoke shaping right before sleeve stitches are placed on hold. The body is then worked in rounds down to the hem. Sleeves are worked top down to the cuffs last. This cool pattern is free with your purchase of Plump Superchunky yarn for this pattern by Mrs Moon! Just let us know in the Notes section of your order and we will email you the pattern. Hunky Dory is a two-colour brioche knit with a very sloppy fit and fabulous voluminous sleeves. It’s knitted from the top down in the round and comes in sizes S through to XXL. It’s knitted on 12mm needles so although it sounds as though it could be a heavy knit it’s actually incredibly light and squishy. The pattern includes videos on how to set up the brioche, the brioche increases and decreases (at the cuff). If you’ve never done two colour brioche before, it really isn’t difficult and you can certainly give it a first go with this jumper but it’s probably not for a total beginner! The jumper is a very loose fit. We’d really recommend checking out the different size measurements if you want a closer fitting garment or are considering sizing up. We’ve had lots of positive feedback about this sweater already. It uses two colours of Plump Superchunky. Shown here in Lemon Curd & Pavlova and Malt Loaf & Gooseberry Fool. Feel free to make your own combos, or check out our kits with our recommended combos here! Jumper - „Hortensia” I designed this classic Fair-Isle sweater for me, colour inspired by the beautiful hydrangeas in my garden. This “jumper” received great recognition on my first trip to the Edinburgh Yarn Festival in 2016. The interest has motivated me to knit another model and write this pattern. General information for construction The jumper (body) is knitted in the rounds from the corrugated rib up to the shoulders in one piece. The neckline and the raglan shaping of body is knitted with steeks. The right and left sleeves are worked in single pieces in the round with the same raglan shaping steek as the body. All three parts are seamed together along the steeked openings thereafter. Knitting technique Fair-Isle, stranded colourwork, jacquard, two colours per round, steek technique Level Advanced knitter Finished Knitted Size Length: XS, S ~ 57cm, M, L, XL ~ 62cm Width(circumference): XS ~ 80cm, S ~ 88cm, M ~ 96cm, L ~ 104cm, XL ~ 112cm Yarn Jamieson’s of Shetland - Spindrift, 100% Shetland wool, yardage 105m/25g or any other yarn with same gauge and steek qualities, i.e. avoid wool with super wash treatment or animal fibres with longer staple (eg Alpaca). The Paul Sweater is worked from the top down in stockinette stitch. First, the left and right shoulders are worked separately before being joined into a single piece. After that, stitches are picked up to work the back. Then, stitches are picked up again to work the right and left fronts. German Short Rows are used to ensure a comfortable fit at the shoulders. Once all the parts are completed, they are joined for knitting in the round. Next, stitches are picked up to work the neckline in a 1x1 rib, worked in the round. Finally, the stitches are picked up to work the sleeves in the round. Examples of knitted projects can be found on Instagram under the hashtag #paul_sweater The gray sweater in the photo is knitted in Pernilla by @filcolana (col. marzipan) & Kid Seta by @gepardgarn (col.103) Sizes: XS / S / M / L / XL / 2XL / 3XL The Paul Sweater has a slightly oversized fit and is designed to have approx. 20 cm 7¾ in of positive ease with slightly reduced ease in larger sizes, to ensure a more comfortable fit. This means the garment’s measurements will be approx. 20 cm 7¾ in larger than your actual bust circumference. The sizes XS / S / M / L / XL / 2XL / 3XL are designed to fit a bust circumference of 80-85 / 85-90 / 90-95 / 95-100 / 100-110 /110-120 / 120-130 cm 31½-33½ / 33½-35½ / 35½-37½ / 37½-39½ / 39½-43¼ / 43¼-47¼ / 47¼-51¼ in. Before you begin, measure yourself to determine the right size. For example, if your bust circumference is 90 cm 35 in, you should knit a size M. If you are between sizes, choose the size based on how loose you prefer the sweater to fit. Using the diagram with the finished garment measurements can be a helpful reference when deciding which size to select. This top-down sweater is knitted using two strands of fingering weight yarn held together throughout the entire project. Stockinette stitch forms the easy-to-knit marled bands. There is a little brioche break section between each stockinette stitch stripe to help blend the color combos together. The brioche break ribbed sections produce a beautiful plump texture throughout the sweater. Get creative and knit a multi-color version with all of your fingering weight yarns or make a more focused color palette with two colors held together for the main color with two other colors held together for the contrast color. Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9) Finished Measurements 36 (39, 44, 47, 53) (57, 61, 67, 71)″ / 91 (99, 112, 119, 135) (145, 155, 170, 180)cm finished chest circumference. These measurements are based on a stockinette stitch gauge of 19 sts = 4″ / 10cm. If you achieve a gauge of 20 sts = 4″ / 10cm in stockinette stitch, then these would be the finished chest circumference measurements… 34 (37, 42, 45, 50) (54, 58, 64, 67)″ / 86 (94, 107, 114, 127) (137, 147, 163, 170)cm Size 4 shown with about 3″ / 8cm of positive ease. I recommend selecting a size with about 2 – 4″ / 5 – 10cm of positive ease. Sleeve and body lengths are customizable. Yarn Fingering weight held double Yardage Approximately 1000 (1150, 1200, 1250, 1450) (1550, 1650, 1750, 1850)yds / 914 (1052, 1097, 1143, 1326) (1417, 1509, 1600, 1692)m of TWO strands of yarn. Yarn is held double throughout the entire sweater. So for example, when the yardage listed for Size 1 is approximately 1000yds / 914m of each strand of yarn, you will need about 2000yds / 1829m total of fingering weight yarn because you are holding two strands together. Size 1 Approximately 1000yds / 914m total of each strand of yarn MC - 575yds / 526m of each strand of yarn CC - 425yds / 389m of each strand of yarn Size 2 Approximately 1150yds / 1052m total of each strand of yarn MC - 620yds / 567m of each strand of yarn CC - 530yds / 485m of each strand of yarn Size 3 Approximately 1200yds / 1097m total of each strand of yarn MC - 650yds / 594m of each strand of yarn CC - 550yds / 503m of each strand of yarn Size 4 Approximately 1250yds / 1143m total of each strand of yarn MC - 675yds / 617m of each strand of yarn CC - 575yds / 526m of each strand of yarn Size 5 Approximately 1450yds / 1326m total of each strand of yarn MC - 775yds / 709m of each strand of yarn CC - 675yds / 617m of each strand of yarn Size 6 Approximately 1550yds / 1417m total of each strand of yarn MC - 825yds / 754m of each strand of yarn CC - 725yds / 663m of each strand of yarn Size 7 Approximately 1650yds / 1509m total of each strand of yarn MC - 875yds / 800m of each strand of yarn CC - 775yds / 709m of each strand of yarn Size 8 Approximately 1750yds/ 1600m total of each strand of yarn MC - 925yds of each strand of yarn CC - 825yds of each strand of yarn Size 9 Approximately 1850yds / 1692m total of each strand of yarn MC - 975yds / 892m of each strand of yarn CC - 875yds / 800m of each strand of yarn Yarn is held double throughout the entire sweater. So for example, when the yardage listed for Size 1 is approximately 1000yds / 914m of each strand of yarn, you will need about 2000yds / 1829m total of fingering weight yarn because you are holding two strands together.
