The CH Brannam pottery was started in Barnstaple in Devon in 1879. Brannam pieces are easy to date as most have the year of manufacture inscribed on the base along with the initials of the artist. CH Brannam pieces were retailed at Liberty & Co in London. This superb plate is from 1893! It is by the hand of James Dewdney who is considered to be the best CH Brannam artist. We are unsure why this piece of art pottery was never glazed. As it is unglazed it has attracted dust and marks but apart from that it is in superb order with no chips or cracks, just a few rubs in the edge. I am new to Esty but have been collecting and dealing in antique ceramics for over 30 years. Price includes UK postage.
