I have been looking for some time for a Quail to 'pose' for me in good light. This morning I found a covey of Quail feeding on the ground in Montana de Oro and I took some shots, but it is hard to get a clear shot of Quail in grass. I knew there is usually a lookout male close by ready to sound the alert in case of danger. As I watched this male flew up into a tree. Yes! I was able to take a number of shots before he moved on.

Since I saw Willie's picture from his iphone, I knew I had to go ASAP, the flowers probably passed prime time. This day was only day I could get out of work earlier, but the weather didn't cooperate.
