The tall roosters (photos 2 and 3) have a crown-style comb, while the shorter hens (photos 4-7) have a smaller scalloped detail. Build your own flock by selecting your chickens. Each piece has been hand-turned on a lathe, the beaks turned separately and applied during final assembly. The fascination of working with wood is that the true colors and patterns are not fully revealed until the piece is complete. Each chicken has a unique personality with slightly varying color and grain according to the wood species. These photographs serve to indicate the range of possible finishes and details. If you would prefer a lighter or darker shade please indicate that on the order, but note that since we do not use exotic wood species it is not possible to create black chickens! The wood is either harvested from our own property in Duvall, Washington or within a 100-mile radius and provided by local arborists. By supporting other small businesses in this way, we help to build a community of like-minded individuals who care about each other and the environment. Each rooster is approx. 3.25 " x 1.25".
