Проводя мастер-классы, все чаще и чаще стала сталкиваться с тем, что уроки стежки для многих лоскутниц все еще актуальны. В 2007 году в Москву приезжала Габи Мэтт. Она проводила обучение свободной стежке! На мой взгляд ее уроки актуальны по сей день. Габи Мэтт разрешила использовать ее уроки для российских лоскутниц в некоммерческих целях............ Учитесь у маэстро! Габи Мэтт автор книг по стежке и арт-квилту! Эти книги пользуются большой популярностью в Европе. 1-й блок занятий!. Внимание! Габи Мэтт рекомендует шить на большой скорости! Упражнение № 1 и 2. Машина настроена на свободную стежку. Учимся шить прямые, параллельные линии вверх и вниз от центра, соблюдая заданный ритм. Упражнение № 3. Очень ценное задание. Учимся делать параллельные линии с заданным направлением. Шьем плавные кривые и заостренные линии. Чтобы получался угол не надо спешить, следует пошить на одном месте, просчитав хотя бы до "2". Это советы Габи Мэтт. Упражнение № 4, 5, 6. Эти упражнения рассчитаны на освоение владения шитья параллельных и кривых линий. при помощи них надо было создать тоновой контраст. Очень интересные упражнения. Упражнение № 7. Итоговое задание. Создание абстрактной композиции. Упражнение на закрепление полученных навыков и знаний! Обратите внимание, как часто закрепляются полученные навыки, и как часто идет повторение! Уникальная система образования!!!!! Разбор полученных композиций! 2-ой блок занятий был посвящен разнообразию линий на примере растительных элементов. За основу были взяты листья. Упражнение № 1. Упражнение № 2. Упражнение № 3. Упражнение № 4. Упражнение № 5. Итоговое задание- черное на белом и белое на черном! Очень ценное задание. Подобные упражнения входят в обязательный курс по композиции в художественных училищах. А здесь, так ненавязчиво... и так ценно! Методика преподавания Габи Мэтт уникальна. Она о сложных вещах говорит просто и доступно! Ее МК уникальны! Спасибо ей Большое!!!!! Стежка, как вид искусства! Today's post is the last of the McTavishing Monday series. I will continue with these link parties each Monday as "Free Motion Monday Quilt-along" I finished my McTavishing sampler and shot another video. Yes, another video. On McTavishing. Is that overkill? I did this McTavishing a bit different by making it smaller. I started off with the big swooshy lines at the same scale I had been doing, but then filled in with "micro-mctavishing". Now I can add the sampler to my pile of "needs to be bound" projects. It will be part of my FMQ classes from now on. All the quilting done in my favorite Glide thread. [Edited to remove older obsolete content.] I'm also giving my Free Motion Quilting Reference Guide to 3 folks who left comments that indicated they were beginners at FMQ. This is a handout I created for my classes on free motion quilting. It's laminated and the back side is mostly blank so you can doodle designs on it with a dry-erase marker. It's a list of tips and ideas for FMQ that is easy to keep right at your machine. It's still a work in progress so I'd appreciate some feedback from those who get it. If you've been wondering if we'll ever get to Spring, you'll enjoy our new design. I wanted to do something that is approachable for both beginners and those that are more advanced. So let's explore ways to make flowers that work well as a filler and also as an all-over design. I've got a few other ideas and possible giveaways to coordinate with the other designs that I mentioned last week. So a little extra time to plan that will be needed. So next week I'll post a tutorial on the design and some examples. Then you'll have a week to link up, if you wish, with drawings or your own quilted versions. This the latest experiment, done on a fat quarter sized piece of fabric. I wasn't sure what I was going to try this week. I had a notion that I was going to do a design based on an unusual beer can, but when I visited Mary Ellen's blog and saw her wonderful pictures of her trip to Germany, the whole plan changed. She has a photo of a beautiful garden full of autumn flowers, so I decided to have a go at rudbeckias. First I did the flower in the centre, with the three flower heads coming from a central stalk. Next I put in a shorter flower on either side, each with two flower heads. When I do this pattern again I shall try and make the stems shorter and fit in more flowers. I didn't really plan what I was going to do at the top. I thought the pattern would work itself out and that I would be able to arrange the stems more easily, but I started confusing myself at the top. An advance sketch might have helped. It has been a weird week. I am running up against the deadline for finishing the "Elements" pieces and I essentially lost two days this week. Monday morning I woke up with a stiff neck and by bedtime I was in a serious amount of pain. Did not sleep and by morning I was in such pain and fear of what might be causing it that I went straight to the Urgent Care Clinic near us. It was a strained trapezius muscle in my neck, making my neck impossible to move without screaming, hot pain and sending tentacles of pain winding up around my skull. The recommendation was rest and drugs and sleep and a soft cervical collar to support the weight of my head. So I lounged around all day on Tuesday reading and sleeping, felt a little better on Wednesday and much better today. So I was back in the studio this afternoon. "Water" should have been easy (that's why I left it for last), but I had a hard time settling on an idea. Close to my heart is the wetland area where we walk, so that began to take shape in my head. I started with an assortment of blue, gray and tan fabrics and fused some strips to form a base. At the end of today I had this: I think I am nearly there. A few additions, then I will trim it to size and bind it. Speaking of the wetland area, we had a surprise when we walked last week. Sofia was with us, and as we came around the corner near the Fanno Farmhouse, Beth and I were talking away and Sofia piped in "look at the turtle!" There, studiously digging in the dirt at the side of the trail, was a large turtle. I took its picture with my phone. That evening on the local news was a story of another turtle that was captured in a backyard several miles away. They are snapping turtles that have invaded the wetlands and creek. They are not native to the area and are thought to have been pets, originally, that were released into the creek and have bred there for years. This is the season when they come onto land to dig holes and lay eggs. They are quite destructive, eating the native fish, frogs, even baby ducks and can take a finger off if you are dumb enough to offer it to one. We found this one pretty interesting and were happy to have encountered it until we learned later what pests they are. If we see another we are advised to call the Parks department or Fish and Wildlife, who will come and take it away. Wish I had known. Now I am on the lookout when we walk.
