Nu we het deze week toch regelmatig over sokkenwol (en de veelzijdigheid ervan) hebben: deze sjaal kwam ik tegen op Pinterest maar ik kan de oorspronkelijke bron niet meer herleiden. (Mocht iemand het weten dan vermeld ik het graag!) Het is echt zo'n leuke sjaal, gebreid van restjes sokkenwol in allerlei printjes: Ik vind dit zo leuk (ik hou van kleur maar dit kan natuurlijk ook met meer bedekte kleurtjes). Vooral de verschillende printjes en gekke kleurencombinaties maken het zo leuk en vrolijk. Gewoon durven, niets is gek. En uiteraard passen daar restjes handgeverfd garen ook prima tussen. De sjaal is een baktus, een zijwaarts gebreide sjaal. Brei 4-draads sokkenwol op nld 3½, dan valt het soepel - het hoeft niet zo compact als bij een sok! Basisvorm van een baktus: Zet 4 steken op. Nld 1: 1 st recht, 1 omslag, brei de rest van de nld recht. Nld 2: brei alle st recht en brei de omslag van de vorige naald achter in de st om een gaatje te voorkomen. Nld 3: brei alle st recht. Nld 4: brei alle st recht. Herhaal nld 1 t/m 4 tot je de helft van je garen gebruikt hebt of tot je sjaal zo lang is als de helft van de gewenste lengte. Minder vanaf nu 1 st iedere 4e nld als volgt: Nld 1: 1 st recht, brei 2 st samen achter in de st, brei de rest van de nld recht Nld 2: brei alle st recht. Nld 3: brei alle st recht. Nld 4: brei alle st recht. Kant af als je nog 4 steken over hebt. Bovenstaande sjaal is gebreid tricotsteek - het patroon staat beschreven in ribbels. Net wat je mooi vindt... en je kunt een Baktus ook haken.

A couple of weeks ago I met up for the first time with Sarah Craig from Confessions Of A Fabric Addict when she was on a trip to Manhattan. We spoken via the internet for several years, I love her blog and the charity quilt work she does is amazing. I'm a regular at her Friday Can I Get A Whoop Whoop? linky party and it was great to finally meet in person. I met up with another blogging quilty friend again this week too - Jess @QuiltyHabit. She was in town on a flying day visit with her sister so the three of us had coffee in Bryant Park. #quiltyfriendsarethebest I digress... when I knew Sarah was going to be in town and interested in hitting the fabric stores I drew up a walking tour for her, meeting her at the lunch spot I recommended and joining her for her afternoon walk down to Purl Soho. It would be churlish to drop into Purl Soho without taking yet more drool-worthy photos and I'd hate to disappoint so here they are - I concentrated on yarn more than fabric this visit but you'll soon get the picture and fabric lovers won't be totally disappointed ;D Disclaimer: All photos were taken with permission from a member of staff.
