According to the calendar, it is opposite to the winter holiday Kolyada. The celebration refers to the summer solstice, when the nights are shortest, and includes a number of Slavic rituals. Girls may float wreaths of flowers (often lit by candles) on rivers and try to gain foresight in their romantic relationships of good fortune from the streams of flowers on the river. Men may try to grab the wreaths, in hopes of capturing the interest of the woman who fused him.
