“Miss Elliot” is a third installment in a “Jane Austen Heroines” series. As the other two shawls it is distinctly romantic and feminine in style. Beautiful leaf and faux cable pattern run along the border and delicate edging is embellished with small glass beads. There are two versions shown. The summer one is knitted in a fingering weight in “Lunayarns” “Bedouin” (65%swiss silk/35%babycamel), colour “Azure Skies”. The size given uses 1.6 skeins (650m) and is knitted on 3.25mm needle. The winter version of the same size shown in Classic Elite Yarns “Magnolia”, a DK blend of 70%Merino and 30% silk in light teal uses 4.5 skeins (500m) on 4.5mm needle. “Miss Elliot” has a crescent shape with a border knitted sideways first. Stitches are later picked up along the edge and body is knitted bottom up in a simple eyelet pattern and shaped using short rows. The size of it can be adjusted easily by knitting more or less border lace repeats (all instructions given) and also bigger size needle may be used for a fingering weight yarn to give slightly different effect. There are variety of stitches used to keep the knitting interesting. Despite its complicated look is nothing but. One should be familiar with short rows, patterning on both sides (the easy kind), and lace knitting. If beads are desired use size 6 and 1mm hook. Instructions are written and border is also charted. The pattern is suitable for intermediate and advanced knitters. “Miss Elliot” is perfect for a special occasion, but not limited to it. It will add a touch of style and glamor to many outfits!

Start this rectangular scarf in one corner and crochet it on the bias to the opposite corner. The special “filet lace”-style edging is crocheted as you go. Includes printer-friendly photo step-outs and a stitch diagram. Optional photo tutorial for lefties too! I originally designed Aeroette to be a practice pattern for a crochet class on the popular Aero Wrap. Like Aero, the scarf length and width are easy to adapt to the amount of yarn you have on hand. Crocheting a rectangular scarf on the bias in Tunisian filet is rare for Tunisian crochet. Aeroette features the Tunisian foundation slip stitch increase method for this. **Skill Level: Intermediate.** A great introduction to lacy biasing would be Tunisian Shakti Scarfythings, which is rated Easy. **After using this pattern, you will know** (if you didn't already): - How to start a Tunisian crochet project in one corner, build a rectangular scarf on the diagonal by increasing along the edges, and then decrease

I think it’s safe to say that Fall is one of the prime times to be a knitter. When the air starts to get just the faintest chill, and the temperature drops just enough that you need to put on another layer, well, that’s when you get those knitting needles out and knit yourself up a little something something. 😉 A knit shawl (which, coincidentally, rhymes with Fall), is one of the perfect pieces to wear at this time of year. And okay, even thoughtechnically we are still a month away from the o

Discounts: See my shop home page for current discount offers ~ I always have one…:) . It’s August and I feel like buying school supplies. I’m not sure why this is such a gratifying task. There’s something about freshly sharpened No.2 pencils, and the linen paper we used for presentations before the digital age. Perhaps it is because I grew up in a family of teachers, and gearing up for the beginning of school was a comprehensive endeavor. It kind of feels like a ‘fresh start’ after finishing the previous term and having the summer to re-group. This collection, ‘Pencil & Paper’, was inspired by the nostalgia of preparing for a new school year. Pink Graphite This design is a large right triangle worked sideways, featuring an easy eyelet section and a solid border that is picked up along the lower edge. See my project page for notes on working the border. Instructions are charted as well as fully written, and the pattern is suitable for any yarn weight from fingering to aran. Be sure to adjust your yarn requirements when making substitutions. Materials used for sample (weighs 290g): Garnstudio Drops Puna 4 skeins Powder Pink (190g - 65% of total used) 2 skeins Dark Gray (100g - 35% of total used) Hint for border: To pick up border stitches from the edge of the mesh section, I picked up one stitch from each pink stripe and one stitch from each gray stripe. Basically one stitch every two rows, just like for picking up from the edge of garter stitch. Pattern is written in American terminology. You are welcome to sell items made from this pattern, on a limited basis. Please credit me for the design, and include a link or reference to my shop when possible. Love in a Mist takes inspiration from Puck’s mischief, his interfering and potion use has everyone’s love in a mist and a mix. A clear and uncluttered, stocking stitch body becomes a web of romantic lace interspersed with jewel-like beads. No mist here though, it is easy to see how simple and lovely this little shawl is; pretty as a picture and a piece of cake to knit. You will be wearing your new, crescent shaped, lovely in no time at all! Knit here in a Paysages Merino/Silk Single (400yards/100g) by Shleep Yarns but suitable for most fingering weight yarns. The pattern is both written and fully colour charted with bead placement indicated throughout. Measurement given for large lace option though one size is noted it is amazingly easy to adapt the pattern to enlarge your shawl. Otherwise, be sure to bind off loosely. The shawl is finished with a crochet picot edging. This pattern is charted and written. If desired, use stitch markers to keep track of pattern repeats. You can find a blog post featuring a tutorial for the Suspended Bind Off here. We also have a tutorial on a Crochet Picot Edging here, but please note that instead of entirely skipping a stitch between picots as directed in the tutorial, you will instead work a slip stitch in the stitch between picots.
