This John 3:16 folded puzzle is a fun little origami craft that unfolds to reveal the message of John 3:16. It only requires a one page template printed double sided, and the folding is fairly easy. This puzzle is unique enough, though, that older kids will enjoy it as well. My understanding is that these […]

Continuing our study of Elisha with week 5. This is the third quarter in our through the Bible series for preschoolers. We have been learning about Elisha the last couple of weeks. He was a prophet (speaker for God). We can learn about Elisha in the Old Testament. There was a commander in the army of the king of Syria. His name was Naaman and he was considered great and honorable but he had leprosy. Leprosy was a very bad disease during Bible times. When a servant girl was helping Naaman’s wife, she said “It’s too bad that the prophet isn’t here because he could help Naaman.” The king of Syria sent a letter to the king of Israel, along with gifts of gold, silver and clothing explaining that he had a commander with leprosy and he wanted Elisha the prophet to heal him. The king sent Naaman to see Elisha. Naaman came on his horse and chariot and stood outside the door of Elisha’s house. Elisha sent a messenger to tell Naaman to go wash in the Jordan River 7 times and he would be healed. But, Naaman was angry! He said to himself “Well, surely he can come to me himself and wave his hand over me and cure me! And, why that river? There’s others!” Naaman was very angry when he left Elisha’s house and his servant asked him “If Elisha told you to do something great, wouldn’t you do it? So, he said ‘Wash and be clean.’” Naaman went in the Jordan River. Naaman dipped down in the Jordan Rover 7 times just like Elisha told him to. And, Naaman was healed of his leprosy! His skin was like new! Naaman went back to thank Elisha and said he would only worship God. Naaman was so thankful that God healed him! Naaman is in 2 Kings 5:1-19. I have used this type of project for the second graders, and I really wanted basically the same thing. This is updated, more print friendly and Naaman is included in color and black & white. I left the whole bottom open to make it easier for preschoolers to use, and that makes it easier to assemble. Click here to download. Click here to download the lesson. I am creating projects for the 3 year old class on Wednesday nights this quarter, and I thought I would share what we did. Abraham is divided into 3 lessons. The first lesson about Abraham is in Genesis 12. God told Abraham that He was going to show him a new land. Abraham would be a great nation. Abraham would be blessed and his name would be great. Abram was 75 when left Haran. Abraham took his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot. The project is for preschool and I had a basket of items that would begin the discussion. For instance, a blanket. Do you think Abraham took a blanket and pillow? Then, they could add their picture to their suitcase. These items Abraham might have taken and did not necessarily go in a suitcase (which he wouldn't have used like we do). So, then you add electronics, sunglasses, etc., things that we have now that they didn't then. Directions are in the download, but you can glue the sides of the suitcase for the students to put the items in, or let them glue the pictures to the inside and they can open and close it. I also gave them these stickers to add to the outside of their suitcase. When I use stickers with them, I cut theirs into strips so I can just hand each person their stickers so they can asdd them how they want to. Click here to download. This map is for Abram and Lot choose which land they want. Abram let Lot pick his first, and Abram took the other. He made good choices. I printed a teacher's visual in color and the students in black and white so they could color. Print, cut on solid lines and fold people on dotted lines. They will stand up and students can move them around the map. When they were done re-telling us the lesson, we rolled the maps up and tied them with a ribbon. This includes the color and black & white. Click here to download. I couldn't decide exactly what I wanted to do with project, so after several days of thinking about it, this is what I ended up with. And, the kids will love it! So, there are the two backgrounds in black & white only for the kids to color. These can be used together or separately. I printed mine on each side of cardstock. Then, I folded it into thirds (before class). It will stand for them to use as a background and they can just bend the folds to turn it around. Abraham and Sarah are in color only because I will have them cut and ready for the kids to use. They will also add star stickers to the stars and sand page. Click here to download the Abraham Panorama.

All the printables were created with a bee and beehive theme for this post. Next week will be the last post in this Beatitudes series and will be all preschool. For this Bee bulletin board, I combined the flowers with the bee theme, and it made a beautiful, fun board! There are different ways to use this bulletin board. The board above is 4'x8', which I love and have used this style/size for a lot of years. I used grass border along the bottom, but I added two layers. It looks great and it adds dimension. Then, I alternated the flower stems 'growing in the grass' under each layer. I also added the tree branch printed on brown cardstock for the hive to hang on. You can print the template here for the tree branch. Instead of using the bees as an interactive bulletin board, I just stapled them with the correct flower. But there is a space on the flower centers to add Velcro and let the students add the bees as a review for the Beatitudes. Print this bulletin board here. I also added bees with the student's names, since they love to see their names on bulletin boards. Then, I let them take their name tags home when the board is changes. If you would rather type in the names on the bees, you can purchase the bees here. You can print the name bees here. This Beatitudes worksheet is a beehive that the students will match the bees to the correct verse on the hive. You can print it in color or black and white. This is a lot of fun for them! Click here to print Kids love these accordions! Once they are printed and cut out, glue the ends together using the tabs. Fold Zigzag style and let the students fill in the blanks. You can print these accordions in color or black & white. Click here to print. While I was creating the above beehive worksheet, I thought it would make a really great file folder game! I added the parts in this download if you would rather use it as a file folder game. Click here to download the file folder game. And since I love lapbooks so much, I created the matching Bee Beatitudes lapbook. They are fun Lift-the-Flap's for the students. They can finish each scripture inside. Or they can finish the scripture on the top inside flap and write a basic summary on the bottom inside portion. Click here to print the lapbook. Abram Travels to a New Land is lesson 5 in the first quarter of a year of Preschool Bible Study that I assist with on Wednesday evening.
Elisha and the Widow's oils is lesson 4 (third quarter) in the through the Bible series for preschoolers. There was a widow (woman whose husband had died) that had two sons. She owed some people money. She told Elisha that they were going to take her sons to work for them if she didn’t pay what she owed. Elisha was a prophet. A prophet was a speaker for God. Elisha didn’t know what he could do to help her. He asked her what she had in her house, and she told Elisha that all she had in the house was a jar of oil. Elisha told her to borrow empty pots from all of her neighbors. Not just a few, but all she could find. Elisha told her that when she went back home to shut the door and pour her oil into the all the empty pots. Then, set the full pots to the side. She did what Elisha told her to. She borrowed all the pots she could. She took them to her house. When they had all the pots she could find, she went into her house with her sons and closed the door. Her sons brought her a pot, and she would fill it with the oil. Then she would set the full pot with the oil off to the side. Finally, she told her son to bring another pot and he replied that they were all full! There isn't another pot to fill! And the original oil stopped running! That is a miracle! The widow told Elisha that all the pots were full! Elisha told her to sell the oil, pay back the money she owed, and live on the money that was leftover. That is a miracle! A miracle is an act of God. It is something only God can do. God took care of the widow. She did exactly what Elisha the prophet told her to do. The widow was able pay the money she owed and keep her sons safe. Lesson is found in 2 Kings 4:1-7. For the lesson, I gathered all the pots I could find! For the students take home, I found small jars to hand out. The bottles in the above picture are from Hobby Lobby. I found a bunch for $1.00 at my favorite craft store! You might find some at Dollar Tree also. This spinner is attached with a brad and shows different pots on the table as the widow and her sons filled them. The download includes the color and black & white. Click here to print. Click here to download the lesson. Click here to print the visuals.
