It (literally) saved my neck.
He ido a París sólo una vez, hace ya tiempo. Estuve 16 días, tiempo suficiente para recorrer todos sus lugares más emblemáticos, con ese placer que se siente al comprobar que lo que has estudiado o leído o soñado antes, lo tienes, de repente, ante ti, se hace realidad y no puedes dejar de mirarlo y admirarlo para empaparte de su historia, de su belleza y quedarlo gravado para siempre en tus recuerdos. Miles de sensaciones y recuerdos, vivencias que pasan a formar parte de tu equipaje por la vida y va conformando ese mundo interior en el que uno se refugia cuando todo alrededor le es adverso o indiferente...Sensibilidad, armonía, sentimiento, perfección, belleza...todo eso que percibido a la vez, y en poco tiempo, te satura, sobrepasando tus posibilidades de asimilación en el cerebro. Y una de esas muchas cosas que me dejaron "chocada" en París fué el Museo D´Orsay, la pinacoteca que alberga la mayor colección de obras impresionistas del mundo. Y lo traigo a colación aquí porque allí conocí a "la pequeña bailarina de 14 años", de Edgard Degas (1834-1917), considerada por los expertos como una de las esculturas más conocidas y queridas por el género humano, con una popularidad sólo comparable con "El pensador" y "El beso", de Rodin, y "La Estatua de la Libertad" de Bartholdi. Se trata de una escultura de bronce, de 99 centímetros, vestida con un corpiño, un tutú de tul y con el pelo recogido en coleta por un gran lazo, esculpida en una proporción de 2:3 sobre el tamaño real de la modelo, una joven estudiante de danza, belga, llamada Marie Van Goethem, una niña humilde, hija de una lavandera y un sastre que posó varias veces para Degas. La obra es una de las 28 copias que se hicieron del original y que se encuentran repartidas por distintos museos del mundo. El original, en cera, con pelo de verdad, vestido de lino y zapatillas de ballet, fué adquirido en 1956 por un multimillonario estadounidense que la cedió en 1985 a la National Gallery of Art de Washington, donde se exhibe actualmente. Para mí supuso una mezcla de sensaciones.... Me asombró, sobre todo, su hiperrealismo. Parecía una "jibarización", a cuya impresión quizá contribuyeron, su tamaño, su color y los rasgos de su cara, un tanto simiescos y el que estuviera metida en una urna de cristal rectangular a través de la cual se exhibía. Eso me produjo un cierto rechazo, pero, en contraste, me fascinó la perfección de su cuerpo, la delicadeza de su figura, su postura erguida y en tensión, con ese gesto propio de quien se está concentrando en sí mismo, en el dominio de cada uno de los músculos y articulaciones de su cuerpo, algo a lo que sólo llegan los que están acostumbrados a una gran disciplina, puesta al servicio de la perfección y por lo que, a veces, pueden resultar altivos. Me costó alejarme de ella, por esa sensación de que estás ante una obra de arte, única, que igual no tienes ocasión de volver a ver y no quieres dejar de mirar por temor a perderte algún detalle. Pero tenía que ver muchas cosas más que, como no podía ser menos en este Museo, me dejarían totalmente "impresionada" para siempre, y que, en su momento, me provocó el famoso síndrome de Stendhal, una confusión de imágenes y sensaciones bellas en mi cerebro que necesité un tiempo para asimilar y procesar. Y es que, después de esas, vinieron otras... y otras..., a cada cual más "impresionantes"... Así que, para seguir con el contenido de esta entrada, no puedo dejar de mencionar las pinturas de este artista que hizo del ballet clásico y las bailarinas, su principal fuente de inspiración. ¡¡Dios mío!! Nadie mejor que el creador para definir su obra: « Me llaman el pintor de las bailarinas. Ellos no entienden que el bailarín ha sido para mí un pretexto para pintar hermosas telas y la representación del movimiento. » Por eso dicen que las bailarinas que pintaba nunca posaban para él. De hecho, le gustaba tomar apuntes mientras bailaban para luego poder pintarlas. « Es bueno copiar lo que se ve, pero es mucho mejor pintar lo que queda en nuestra memoria después de ver algo. Se trata de una transformación en donde la imaginación y la memoria trabajan juntas. Sólo se puede reproducir algo que nos golpeó, es decir, sólo lo esencial. » Y sobre todo, le gustaba asistir a las clases y a los ensayos del ballet donde además de fijarse en las posturas y en los movimientos de las danzantes durante el baile, le gustaba plasmar sus gestos habituales cuando no estaban cara al público. En la imagen de abajo se pueden ver algunas de sus famosas "clases de danza" en distintas salas del Teatro de la Ópera de París, en las que estaba prohibido entrar, pero a las que al pintor, dicen, se le permitía acceder, por sus conocimientos con algunos de los músicos de la Orquesta. "Clase de danza en la Ópera" (1872) "Clase de danza" (1873) En fin, tiene muchas más obras ( y no sólo de bailarinas ) en este museo y en otros lugares del mundo, aunque yo me he centrado en éstas y en él, porque no podía dejar de hacerlo en una entrada dedicada a las bailarinas de ballet clásico y porque, además, me ha servido para recordar y poner en orden algunas imágenes y sensaciones de mi visita a París y alrededores, que tenía en mi mente como una nebulosa y con las que he vuelto a disfrutar, comprometiéndome conmigo misma a que voy a volver, en cuanto pueda, a saborearlas tranquilamente, sin prisas, convencida de que son de las cosas que uno tiene que procurar siempre que no se le olviden jamás.
