Written in an obscure mixture of Latin, Italian, and regional dialects, the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili (Poliphilo’s struggle for love in a dream) is the tale of Poliphilo’s love for Polia narrated as a dream. During his dream, Poliphilo searches for Polia, finds her, declares his love to her and eventually unites with her. In his quest, Poliphilo encounters five beautiful nymphs approaching the fountain called the “mother of all” (Panton Tokadi) in which they invite Poliphilo to bathe. The nymphs are the five senses: Aphea (touch), Osfressia (smell), Orassia (sight), Achoe (hearing) and Geusia (taste).

Once the print is out of stock, it won't be reprinted ✧ This is an original artwork freely inspired by the XVI century woodcuts. The graphic style tends to imitate the master woodcutters (Dürer, Egenolff, Wolgemut) of the late 15th century, early 16th century, both in terms of tools, techniques, and the posture and symbolism itself. The prints are 15cm x 21cm wide (A5) thus, the paper area is slightly wider The creative process involved a pencil sketch on the linoleum block, then inking with a quill and black china ink.
