Looking for book report templates for Book Week that help scaffold the writing of a fiction book report? This resource includes templates, guiding questions, and visuals in both printable and digital format (Google Slides, Google Forms) to help your students write impressive book reviews. Also included are posters and banners to decorate your classroom. This resource features both US and British English spellings. 1. Printable Editable Book Report Templates Cover (editable) templates x 8-12 (students details and quote editable) Editable templates x 5: The Setting, Main Characters, The Summary (x2), What I Thought (prompts editable) Lined sheets for publishing x 4 Teacher Marking Rubric x 3 Self-editing and Peer editing Checklists Recommended Use Project the PDF file on the interactive whiteboard to introduce the parts of a fiction book report via the posters/anchor charts. Also, show students the flipbook templates and completed sample. Discuss the requirements for each template of the book report. Have students collect information in their flipbook on the specific book under study. This could also serve as their draft where they could use the self-editing and peer-editing checklists to edit. Finally, have students publish on given writing sheets or type out content from draft observing corrections. Flipbook Assembly You can choose either of the two options. Print out the templates in blackline. Cut around each template and assemble from the smallest template to the largest template. Have students color in pages. Staple at top tab for flipbook or glue descending order in notebook. Print out the templates on cardstock (different colors). Cut around each template and assemble. Attach at top. Preparation Style 1 For grades 2-3, bundle up to 6 sheets together after sorting, align them perfectly and cut. For grades 4-6, students are old enough to cut and compile flipbooks on their own. I have my students compile all sections of the flipbook prior to research and writing. For style 2, simple cut on the horizontal line of each template and assemble. Display After completion, display students’ flipbooks under the Banner. These flipbooks are sure to make an interesting bulletin board display. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2. Digital Book Report in Google Slides This is a digital version of the book report. Your students will write a report on a book of choice by documenting (typing out) information in google slides ( a free app in the google drive suite). Students have the option to digitally submit the completed book report flipbook for feedback and grading or print it out for display. Both color and blackline template options included. ►► Items Included Book report black and white flipbook templates ( x 5) in google slides Book report colored flipbook templates ( x 11) in google slides Teacher Marking Rubric (3 options) in google slides and PDF format 3.
