I absolutely love receiving gifts that are beautifully wrapped! There is something so special about knowing someone took the time to thoughtfully wrap a gift. And one of my very favourite things is pulling the ends of a long, silky ribbon to untie a simple bow on top of a gift box. Can't you feel it? Or am I the only one who thinks that is the most utterly enjoyable feeling? Gift wrapping with tissue paper flowers is a simple way to wrap gifts, but it ends up looking so beautiful! I got the inspiration for this from 33 Shades of Green. Materials: Brown craft

Basic kraft boxes and bags can make the prettiest favors when you embellish them with ribbons, tags and a simple die cut paper shape. I love the look of black and white with kraft. I would describe this combination as simple, elegant, natural, modern, organic and rustic. I added paper flower and birds that I created using vintage book pages to my favors. I think that these would make wonderful wedding favors for the diy bride would is looking to add a personal touch to her wedding. The only hard part is figuring out which kraft box or bag to use! Our kraft take-out boxes have just arrived! I wrapped a wide black satin ribbon around the box and tied it at the top without a bow. You can see my tutorial for making paper flower here. I glued a vintage paper flower to small wood clothespin so that I could just clip it onto the ribbon. You can make simple paper tags to attach to the wire hanger on the take-out box. Say "thank you" or if you want to your favors to do double duty, add a guest's name to each tag so everyone will know where to sit. Mod boxes come in lots of sizes and colours ... the kraft ones are my favourite. Similar to the take-out box favor, I wrapped a wide black satin ribbon around the box, tied it at the top without a bow and attached a vintage paper flower on a clothespin. I used a Martha Stewart paper punch to decorate the bottom of a plain white tag and inserted it under the ribbon. Again, you can use the tag to add a thank you message or add a name to double as an escort card. We have an assortment of jewellery boxes available ... these kraft ones are a basic in my packaging supplies. I tied a wide satin black ribbon and a grosgrain black and white stitched ribbon around the box. I attached a bird shape that I die cut from vintage papers to a small clothespin and then clipped it onto a small branch. The branch was woven between the ribbons to give this package an interesting look. You could easily tuck branches with fresh blossoms if you are making these up the day of your event. You've seen me use these kraft bags many times before. They are easy to make and if you looking for a a larger favor that will have a big impact these are perfect! I used a Martha Steward paper edge punch to decorate the top of the bag. You can see my tips for using this punch on this post. I also used a tool called Sew Ribbon that you can see here to punch slots into the bag. Then I sewed a black ribbon through the slots to close the bag ... make sure that you add whatever you are putting into the bags into the bags before adding the ribbon! Another one of my vintage paper flowers that was glued to a small clothespin was added to the ribbon. You can use the clothespin to hang a gift tag or escort card to your bag favor.
I rounded up some rad-as-hell printable gift boxes that would totally work for wedding cake favors if you're looking for a way to save some cash on favors.

Wanna see a cool trick? I hate wrapping something and then having to stick something on top and I figured out how to make a cute little candy wrapper using any punch. These measurements are for the Hershey's nuggets. I took a piece of DSP 4 1/2 inches wide. Fold in half so it is 2 1/4 inch wide- in this picture, the fold is on the left. The height of each piece is 1 1/4 inches. Cut to the dimensions shown later here. (picture order got screwed up- sorry!) The width of the band depends on the height of the punch because you have to slide it in to punch it out. This is what it looks like after you cut the corners. I took a long piece and cut a bunch of them at the same time to save time making multiples. Slide the folded band sideways into the punch the pull out the band through the punch as shown. If the belly band is too fat, it is hard to pull through the other side of the punch like this. Then punch the butterfly using only one side of the punch. It is better to to the right of the fold than to the left- if it is too tight, it will tear as you try to put it together. When you unfold it should look like this. Now the mechanism: Cut a slit on one of the butterflies from the top half way, and the other one from the bottom half way as shown with the pencil mark. So you slide the one butterfly over the other as shown. Here is the completed band- or a little ring- or whatever. Slide in the nugget and a cute little party favor! This is the dimension of the folded piece with the fold to the right. If you are using thicker cardstock, leave a smidgeon more room because it will not bend as well. T You can do the same with any punch. This was the bat punch using the same idea. Thinner belly band to squeeze into the punch as shown. When you unfold and put a little slit halfway - one from the top, another from the bottom and voila! a bat candy treat! I was trying to make a point about how easy this was so I used a copy paper with the blossom punch. Folded it in half to figure out the diameter of item you want to wrap and the left over becomes the part that you punch. Used the Blossom punch to punch the flower, cut slits on opposite ends to tie it on. It thought it would make a lovely disposable napkin rings for a wedding or any event. What do you think? Lynda

Here are ten of our favorite creative ways to use brown kraft paper to wrap gifts.
I have my gifts all wrapped and will take them to UPS today to be shipped. Yippee!! I used some of the printable Christmas tags I found and wrapped each gift in sheet music wrapping paper that I found at Ikea. I got it in both white/black and kraft paper/black. It's really cute! I spent some time scouting out some great wrapping ideas before I found my "sheet music" paper and thought you might like to see them. This idea really appealed to me because I like the idea of using fresh greenery and kraft paper. It's so simple and yet it's quite stunning. She has some other wonderful ideas on her blog too....go check it out! I always love black and white. It's so sophisticated and makes such an elegant statement. Washi Tape, Baker's Twine and Kraft paper seem to be a recurring theme, which I really like. I like the "homemade" and simple look. Aren't these eye-catching? Here she used Trader Joe's paper bags as wrapping paper. I love this, and especially because I have some of these bags!! Here's another variation using kraft paper. How fun to use rubber stamps. I can see all kinds of possibilities here. This idea from Martha Stewart (of course) is so cute for the kiddos. Wouldn't a child just love to get a gift that was wrapped like this? White paper with colorful ribbons is always another easy, but beautiful way to wrap gifts. Especially, if there is a candy cane attached. And this, I think, is the most clever idea of all. A word search with everyone's names and then circle the name of the recipient. Use Puzzlemaker on Discovery Education to create it. Hope you enjoyed all this wonderful inspiration. If you've already got your gifts wrapped and you did something special, I would love it if you would share it with me/us in the comments. Just a reminder.....my holiday gift to you SALE!.....ends Christmas Day. Happy Holidays,
