Lauren and Kass Hernandez are Australian-born sisters of Filipino heritage based in Sydney, and the founders of Crossing Threads. Their work is truly distinctive and highly textural.
These beautiful hand fans are made from Toquilla palm by female artisans from Sandoná, a small town hidden in the mountains of southern Colombia. Using a traditional technique, the process begins by extracting the threads from the leaves of the Toquilla, which are then dyed and woven to create beautiful and intricate pieces that are the ultimate expression of the region's culture and identity.
