via How is your summer going? Mine is full of work and not much fun. I'm working on a freelance design project at the moment which is why the blog has been lacking. It should be done soon and I'll be back. I always forget that just about the time I get my back deck looking nice...it gets too hot to enjoy it. I didn't have time to go through all the Mod Mix Monday entrees so I'll just do it next week. Hopefully, next week will be more under control as far as my time. But for now..let's imagine what it would be like to spend some time in one of these roof top gardens, shall we? I love the dark floor and dark doors in that one above. via This one I'm sure is in New York City as it came from Martha. via How charming is this? Lots of roof top gardens. This makes me think how fun would it be to fly over my own neighborhood and view everyone's backyard gardens from the air? via This one is super elegant! via Then this one includes everything but the kitchen sink! It's exquisite! via I'd love to see the apartment this garden is above! via Love that arbor with the built in chases below. Many good ideas in this roof top garden to incorporate into a backyard garden too. I love that tree in the huge pot! In spring I always wonder why I get in such a hurry for summer to end...and then we hit those high 90's and higher days and I remember why we get anxious for fall. Our best summer days are in the fall! Tweet

I completely fell head-over-heels for Cascais. Cascais wasn’t originally on my itinerary. But I found myself with an extra day in Lisbon and decided it would be a good idea to take a day trip to Cascais. Unfortunately, so did about a thousand other people and I had to wait an hour in the train station for an hour just to buy a ticket. Learn from my mistakes and get started early in the morning! Barring the obnoxious wait time, I loved everything about my trip to Cascais. It used to be a sleepy little fishing village, but it’s now a major beach town in Portugal. Not only are the beaches picturesque, the houses are colored in pretty pastels and flowers drip all over the facades. I strolled through the streets without even a hint of an itinerary or a map, just letting myself get lost among the alleyways. At one point I bought an ice cream and enjoyed it by the glimmering Atlantic. It was such a perfect day. It’s only a 40 minute train ride away from Lisbon, so if you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend this as a day trip!

Over the years, we at Bored Panda have released quite a few pieces on subpar design. And while these publications are incredibly fun to prepare and scroll through (just take a look at this one), we need to balance them out a little. After all, not every designer is an incompetent 3-year-old. Some of them are 4... light-years ahead of the competition.
