This listing is not intended to be used to create finalized artworks... but rather give you an idea of what your design could be! This listing will have me put down my ideas and loose scribbles about your project. If you like what you see, and decide to get the design finalized, you can then make a much more informed purchase from the listings in my shop! My pricing system for sketches is $5 plus $1 per word. A word is any amount of letters (or numbers) between spaces. "A" is one word. "Hippopotamus" is also one word. Feel free to message me if you don't know how many 'words' are in your request. As a bonus, I would be happy to send the sketch to you! I can send it folded into thirds as a standard letter, or I can send it as a parcel or 'flat' where shipping will be a bit more expensive if you would prefer it without the folds. I can send to both the USA or internationally. Here are the price breakdowns for each option: Digital only = FREE USA letter- folded $1.50 (one stamp and an envelope) INTL letter- folded = $3 (three stamps and envelope) USA parcel- unfolded = $5 (3 stamps and photo document mailer) INTL parcel- unfolded = $16 (photo document mailer, $10-14 in shipping, and a trip to the post office) To receive a custom design sketch, all you really have to tell me is what word or phrase to write out! Though you are welcome to give me as much information as you want to guide my design process. I find it quite useful to know what the design is intended to be used for. Something intended to be a wooden cutout would benefit from having thicker lines and being one continuous piece, where a design intended to be used as a website banner would need to fit within certain, specific, size constraints, but could have very thin lines. For tattoos, I like to know where on the body they will be placed, so I can try to get the design to flow well with the body and keep the minimum line thickness to .7mm (which is still VERY thin for a tattoo!) In any commission, I am more than happy to communicate about your project! The more information you give me about what you have in mind and your intended use for the design, the more I have to work with in making sure the design will work for you. You can expect to see sketches from me as I work on your project! _________________ (extra stuff you can read, but don't have to) _________________ While my finished artwork will just seem like abstract circles to most people, they all follow the rules of a particular script that can be recognized (and even read!) by many nerds scattered across the world! Even if you aren't a Doctor Who fan, this script is one of the most beautiful ways to create an abstract artwork with a specific hidden message. This particular script, originally created by Loren Sherman, uses various combinations of lines and dots on partially or fully completed circles to denote different letters. This allows for LOTS of artistic freedom and skill to be expressed when making designs. If you are interested in learning more about this script and how to read and write using it yourself, I've put several guides on youtube and will include an explanation of how to read your design as an included part of any commission. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlkIWp-0BIIc1a52l5fUjoKfUITd_Uqyk *note, There is no official Gallifreyan language. This script is just a well-established method of turning words into pretty circle art that resembles the 'Gallifreyan' from BBC's Doctor Who, which I'm unaffiliated with and share now hold on any of their IPs.

Disclaimer: embarrassing story to follow... Back in December (yes, 7ish months ago), we were in the middle of our geography unit. I searched YouTube for a catchy song to help my students remember the names of the continents and oceans, but I found nothing that A) had all of the info I needed or B) was of good quality. So my teammie and I wrote our own song! The continents verse is actually something I picked up while student teaching 9 years ago, and we wrote the oceans verse. We sang our hearts out and it was glorious! Then we decided that if we couldn't find anything we liked on YouTube, how many other teachers were feeling the same way? We talked to the tech department and got the permissions we needed to make our own YouTube video! We were READY, and the kids were SO excited! They were going to be FAMOUS!!! We were scheduled to film the video the day before Winter Break, and the plan was that I would edit it and put it together over Winter Break. Then nature happened. We didn't have school that last day before Winter Break due to an ice storm. We rescheduled for a day when we got back, except... you guessed it, our pal Polar Vortex wasn't going to allow it. Third time was a charm though, because we did end up filming in mid-January. Then my life happened. And then I forgot about it. The video camera I checked out from my school's library sat at my house for MONTHS. I know. SO embarrassing! Then the last week of school I got a print out of what I still needed to return to the library, and the video camera was on the list! I about died! So on the eve of the last day of school (while I'm juggling report cards and other EOY duties), I stayed up way past my bedtime to put the video together: Click on the image above to see the video on YouTube The video is unlisted, so I suggest you either bookmark it or pin this post so you can come back to it when you need it. Better late than never, right? It was a fun way for us to end the school year remembering one of the topics we learned about in Social Studies. What did you make this week? Link up with 4th Grade Frolics to share with us!

If you need a chart different than what’s pictured, please contact me! Size: 24” x 32” (Please note: There are two hole marks in each chart that will be laminated over) Anchor charts are invaluable to students and teachers when displayed in the classroom for continued learning. They make great reference charts for students when learning new skills and serve as reminders for information learned. Please note, due to the custom, hand-made nature of this item, the actual poster you receive may vary slightly from the one pictured. I will do my best to make it as close as possible! There may be slight imperfections in the chart paper or lamination which are out of my control. Colors may vary!
If you belong to any of the fun "Weird Second Hand Finds" facebook groups, you will soon see a lot of discussion and excitement over finding the perfect House Hippo. A house hippo can be any hippo you bring into your home. It can be ceramic, stone, or, as one lucky recent poster shared, uranium glass. (Uranium glass glows under a black light, and is extremely collectible) You can even purchase a House Hippo art print. https://shop.midnight-oil.ca/products/house-hippo-art-print But what exactly is the origins of this House Hippo tradition? You won't need an old newspaper for this one - it's recent enough that youtube will do. In 1999, The Concerned Children's Advertisers released a 60 second advertisement as part of the Break The Fake campaign, with the intent of educating children about critical thinking in regards to advertising. In other words, don't believe everything you see on tv. In the video, a house hippo is shown foraging for crumbs of peanut butter toast in a kitchen, escaping from a house cat, and making a nest. The House Hippo Video: ====================
