The coloured earths of Chamarel were promoted as Mauritius' first tourist attraction back in the 1960's. Even today souvenir test-tubes containing the multi-coloured earth can be bought from beachvendors and tourist boutiques. The land belong to Bel Ombre Sugar Estate and a small entrance charge is made to visit the earths. Sunrise is the best time to see the Coloured Earths. Geologists are still intrigued by the rolling dunes of multi-coloured lunar-like landscape. The colours, red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow never erode in spite of torrential downpours and adverse climatic conditions. This phenomenon has never been explained but it is believed the earths are composed of mineral rich volcanic ash. An incantation of thirty-seven ceremonial incense resins, freshly turned spring earth, and new grasses. “I myself have seen this woman draw the stars from the sky; she diverts the course of a fast-flowing river with her incantations; her voice makes the earth gape, it lures the spirits from the tombs, send the bones tumbling from the dying pyre. At her behest, the sad clouds scatter; at her behest, snow falls from a summer's sky.” ― Tibullus' Elegies, 55 BCE -19 BCE Art: Women Dancing (Dance of the Forest Nymphs) - Warren B. Davis (1865–1928) Walpurgisnacht or Hexennacht ("Witches' Night") is the night when witches are reputed to hold a large celebration and await the arrival of spring.

Shiro, a Japanese cat known for his relaxed and chill personality, has sadly passed away at the age of 18 on March 2, 2020. Shiro became famous on social media for his ability to fall asleep no matter when or where—photos of him balancing flowers, fruits, and even frogs on his head while sleeping or relaxing put a smile on the faces of millions of people. Despite the fact that most cats are quite lazy, people on the internet were still often amazed at how chill and Zen Shiro was. No wonder the handsome boy has more than one Instagram account dedicated to him and his flamboyant portraits. Shiro's full name, Shironeko, means "white cat" in Japanese. The "white cat" has led a pretty chill life in Japan alongside his cat siblings and (clearly) loving owners.
