The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. This collection reveals the history of English common law and Empire law in a vastly changing world of British expansion. Dominating the legal field is the Commentaries of the Law of England by Sir William Blackstone, which first appeared in 1765. Reference works such as almanacs and catalogues continue to educate us by revealing the day-to-day workings of society. ++++ The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. Selling a Lexicon 2400 Stereo Audio Time Compressor/Expander I never used since I bought it on a whim thinking I could do something really cool with it before finding out it's really complicated and not having the time to figure it out. So better sell it and make room. I have no no idea about its working condition but it is in good exterior condition. And it still turns on after I've owned it for over 15 years and never did anything with it. However the battery is LOW now which it wasn't in the earlier images. I have posted images showing the item in NYC and now in France..This is an absolute studio and industry classic, one of the few remaining units in any condition. The fan works fine you can hear it hum quietly as it should in the short boot video. Display lights up and has excellent contrast. Will ship internationally. Shipping price could be a bit high because IT IS VERY HEAVY. 12KG to be exact. plus packing materials, so I assume 15kg total Some history:The 2400 was a film and broadcast standard for many years. It was first introduced in 1986 and remained in production for a decade. It has been reverse engineered many times over the years by different companies including Eventide. The 2400 uses 4 DSP chips for the number crunching that enables it to do time compression/expansion in real time. Nowadays this can be easily achieved in several different ways depending on the software you choose (e.g. , ). Some DAWs even have this capability built in (Protools Elastic Audio, Logic FlexTime). 2 decades ago there were no such choices and the 2400 was one of the best ways to achieve this effect. The 2400 was used on many Blockbuster movies including "Star Trek V',"Full Metal Jacket","The Hunt For Red October","The Simpsons" and the animated feature "An American Tail" to name a few. It was also used in countless jingles and voiceover work.

I thought I'd follow up yesterday's post with another quarry shot. This is Seacombe which is another old coastal quarry a couple of miles west of Dancing Ledge. As you look at this picture, imagine that you are one of the workers who manned the boats that moored at the edge of this ledge - these were 7 metre long barges and around 6 tons of rock would be lowered into each by a wooden whim (crane)! These barges would then be ROWED (occasionally they might have a small sail!) by just TWO men out to sea to a waiting barge or ketch where it would be manhandled into the larger vessel for onward transmission! Not sure I'd want to do that job!! This quarry was again worked from the 18th century until the 1920's
