Overview of this piano exercise This piano exercise was created for piano learners who are at the entry level. This will assist them to learn how to play detached notes (or staccato notes) with one hand and play legato notes with the other hand. A lot of entry level piano students have a tendency to use both hands either with only staccato or only legato. However, students will run into situations all the time in the near future where they are required to use each hand differently. Please practice very slowly first. You may just practice first 8 measures first until you accomplish it. When you accomplish it, try the following measure. On the first half, you'll be using staccato with right hand and legato with the left hand. On the 2nd half, you'll be reversing that to legato with right hand and staccato with the left hand. It’s Shaun the Sheep! My kiddos LOVE Shaun and all his antics so I thought of no better way to add to their fun than with a large plushie! A word about yardage needed: Unfortunately I didn’t keep track of exactly how much yardage was used, but I will say the bobble sts use A LOT of yarn. As an estimate I’d say 1200-1600 yards, based on a plushie of similar size and assuming that bobble sts take 3-4 times more yarn than regular sc, and the other plushie’s yardage estimate was accurate. I hope that helps! -Abigail Finished size: about 15” (38cm) seated when using worsted weight yarn and 3.5mm hook. Adventures Through the Old West-ament When we read the Old Testament, it often seems likes a rough and rugged place – like the American Old West. But when we look a little closer, we see that even in some of the wildest events that happened, God had a plan. God’s plan then is the same plan He has now, to let the world know who God is and how much He loves us. _______ Wild West Faith 8-Week Children's Ministry Curriculum Overview: Memory Verse: “The grass dries up. The flowers fall to the ground. But what our God says will stand forever.” Isaiah 40:8 (NIrV) Lessons: Go West, Young Man Scripture: Genesis 12:1-8, God Calls Abram Many people flocked to the Old West because it was a chance to start over in a place where there weren't many people. God called Abram to move to an unfamiliar place and promised to make a great nation from him. Abram trusted God, and knew one day the promise would be fulfilled. Objective: Kids will learn they can have confidence in going where God leads them. In Cahoots Scripture: Genesis 27:1-35, 41-45, Jacob Gets Isaac's Blessing In the Old West, two bad guys might team up or be “in cahoots” together. When Jacob wanted his father's blessings, he teamed up with his mother to trick the blessing out of Isaac. Jacob's trickery ended up tearing his family apart and forcing Jacob to run away to save his life. Objective: Kids will learn that dishonesty can destroy the good things God has given us. New Sheriff in Town Scripture: Exodus 8, The Plagues of Frogs, Gnats, and Flies When lawlessness ran amok, a new sheriff would ride in to clean up the Wild West town. The Pharaoh of Egypt mistreated and abused the Israelites who lived there, so God sent in Moses and Aaron to set things right. But Pharaoh's heart was hardened and he would not acknowledge the awesome power of God. Objective: Kids will learn that there are consequence’s for not living God’s way. High Noon Scripture: Joshua 10:1-15, The Sun Stands Still In the Old West, the final shootout often took place at “high noon” when the sun was highest in the sky. When the five kings of the Amorites came against the Israelites, it would take a miracle for the people of God to defeat them before the sun went down. So God provided a miracle and stopped the sun in the sky until Joshua and his men had the victory. Objective: Kids will learn that God can do what seems impossible to us. Showdown Scripture: 1 Samuel 17:25-49, David and Goliath In the Old West, two gunfighters would meet face to face in the final showdown. The young David met the giant Goliath for a showdown on the battlefield – Goliath with his spear and heavy armor, David with only a few stones and a sling. David met his adversary with confidence in the Lord in the most famous showdown in history. Objective: Kids will learn that we can have confidence in God. Ride 'Em Cowboy Scripture: Numbers 22:21-38, Balaam's Donkey It might get lonely for a cowboy in the Old West, just him and his horse. He might even start talking to his horse. While Balaam traveled by donkey, the donkey started talking to him. And what he said showed Balaam that he had been disobedient and gone his own way. Objective: Kids will learn that we should listen and obey God’s Word. This Town Ain't Big Enough. . . Scripture: 1 Kings 18:16-39, Elijah Versus The Prophets of Baal When enemies confront each other in a Wild West town, you might hear the phrase, “This town ain't big enough for the both of us.” Someone had to go. The people of Israel were trying to worship the false idols of Baal. Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal to show once and for all that there is only one true God worthy of our worship and praise. Objective: Kids will learn that we should worship God alone. Round Up a Posse Scripture: Judges 7:1-22, Gideon Defeats the Midianites In the Old West, when a criminal was on the loose, the sheriff would round up a posse of the strongest and bravest men to go after him. When Gideon went up against the Midianites, God gave him some strange instructions on who would be in his posse. When the small band of 300 Israelites defeated the Midianites, it displayed God's power for all to see. Objective: Kids will learn that when we follow God's instructions we will succeed. _______ Each Lesson Includes: Make It Stick!
