A therapy session prep guide to help you prepare for your next or first therapy appointment so you can remember what to talk to your therapist about. There’s a real struggle called therapy amnesia that happens when you walk and out of the therapy room to where you forget what you were suppose to do and what had happened to you since the last appointment. By thinking through and writing it out before the appointment, you’ll be able to remember when you walk through that magical door way that seems to make you forget everything you wanted to talk about.
My students were having a hard time understanding and remembering the difference between some of these (especially why and how), so I created this. I posted it on my smartboard so students could see it while we were practicing these concepts. It was used when teaching RL 2.1 "Ask and answer such q...

About Nicolas, Where Have You Been? Caldecott Honor winner Leo Lionni’s beloved fable about the benefits of being open minded. When the young mouse Nicolas sets out across the great meadow alone in search of ripe red berries, he is grabbed up by the claws of a huge bird and carried high into the sky. But that is only the beginning of Nicolas’s adventure. How he gets the berries he was hoping to find, and learns to trust the very creatures he thought were his enemies, makes this Leo Lionni fable one that young children will want to hear again and again.
With all this talk of "identity" going around, I wanted to share that I used to be afraid of getting amnesia as a child. Every time I hit my head, which happened a lot for some reason, I would repeat my name, address, and what my house looked like to myself to prove I didn't have amnesia. God asking the question to Adam, "Who told you...?" made me realize something. As a small child with only two TV stations in my area (ABC and NBC), I watched a program where someone forgot who they were. This impacted me and caused fear to rise within me. TV not only affected my thoughts but also manipulated my behavior. In the 90s, because I knew more commercial jingles and TV show theme songs than Bible verses, I decided to stop watching TV. I wanted to stop being molded by something other than God. When I examine my beliefs, I consider where they come from. Who told me what I believe? Is it God or something else? Romans 12:1-2 says, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." I challenge you to examine your beliefs when they arise. Ask yourself: Who told me this? God, or someone else? #IQuitTV

Sometimes, when we're sick of watching movies at night and have nothing better planned, Ben and I like to go to the bookstore and each pick out a new book. Then we come home, get some snacks, and settle in on the couch to read together. It's a cheap, relaxing, and low-key date. This past weekend, it was raining on Friday night so it seemed like the perfect time to […]
