Offered for sale is a PDF copy of a knitting pattern for a beautiful jumper in a smart diagonal design. The pattern was produced by Stitchcraft and was published in their February 1946 magazine. This is not an easy pattern, so not suited to a beginner knitter. It is worked with a cable needle to give the diagonal design. The neckline has an unusual cross-over design that is so smart. I knitted one in 4 ply and another in DK, but missed off the pocket detail each time. Worked on size 11 and 12 needles, the original is meant to be for a 32-34" bust, but I have knitted this in DK and it will comfortably fit a 38" bust, but you will need to do a tension square first. The second and third pictures in the listing are to show you how the pattern knits up. The jumpers are NOT for sale in this listing, the listing is for the pattern only. Always do a tension square first to ensure best fit. The pattern has been reproduced in high resolution and has been enlarged to A4 size, so when you print the pattern, all the instructions are clear and easy to follow. The listing is for the PDF pattern ONLY, NOT the original pattern, and NOT the finished garment. The pattern is available as a download, which can be found in the Downloads section of your Etsy account. If you have any problems opening it, email me, and I can always email you a PDF copy. This is a vintage pattern, over 70 years old, and is out of copyright, and in the public domain. But I have watermarked the pattern in red, but the instructions are all unaffected.

South Dakota became a state in 1889, but many of these historic South Dakota photos are from even earlier than that.
Errata: There is a small amount of errata when working the Front/Back beginning after Armhole Shaping: You should now have on needle 73, (82, 83, 92, 93, 102, 103, 112 Then second row of neck shaping should be worked as follows Bind off next 37, (46, 47, 56, 57, 66, 67, 58) sts Work Should Shaping as written, simply reversing shaping for second shoulder. Some Notes: Row Gauge is EXTREMELY important in this pattern (I would dare say more important than stitch gauge). Please check row gauge before any inquires regarding this pattern. Directions for Front are to work as for back. This means everything. Because this is a vintage inspired piece I kept it pretty simple. Yarn amounts will vary if you do not use the yarn specified. It is a thicker worsted weight and blocks very well. I’ve always loved the classic vintage Victory Jumper. However I wanted an updated, modern, and wearable version. I loved the simple lace stitch, so I borrowed the lace stitch, wrote a brand new pattern sized for women from S - 5X and viola!…an ode to the classic vintage victory jumper! A simple lace pattern sets this otherwise ordinary red, white, and blue jumper apart from the rest. A wide rib, capped and puffed sleeve, and high neckline all work together for a sweater that is made for the modern woman. Materials Needed: Yarn: Green Mountain Spinnery Mountain Mohair; 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6) Skeins Raspberry (A), 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6) Skeins Edelweiss (B) and 3 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7) Skeins Maritime (C) 50g/181yds. Needles: One each US 6 (4.0mm) and US 8 (5.0 mm) Needles. Notions: Tapestry Needle, Scissors. Gauge: 1 Pattern Repeat and 8 rows = 2” in Stockinette Stitch. If your gauge is not that given here, try a smaller or larger needle until you obtain this gauge. If you have to use a different size needle from that called for, it will not in any way alter the garment provided you knit 6 stitches to the inch. Measurements: Finished Bust: 34 (38, 42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 62) in. Finished Length: 18 (18, 19, 19, 20, 20, 21, 21) in. Finished Sleeve: 9 (9, 9, 10, 10, 10, 11, 11) Pattern Notes: Sweater is worked from the bottom up in two pieces. To lengthen or shorten do so at ribbing and not in main pattern stitch.
