Why bag your viola when you can nestle it? If you’re looking for something beautiful and unique, this handmade 100% silk wrap is for you. I set out to design something that would give all the protection of the usual instrument bag but with more style. Read on to learn more! [If you’re looking for a more traditional instrument bag, I’ve got those too. For instance, you could check out https://gussetandgather.etsy.com/listing/1736113370/100-pure-silk-violin-bag-handmade] This is the first multi-color wrap I've made! It has two different amazing color shifting fabrics, orange/magenta on top and gold/indigo on the bottom. Combined with the golden lining, it's sure to make you and your viola feel extremely swanky! It would make a great gift to treat your favorite violist, or yourself! Celebrate an important recital, graduation, new school, birthday, or just any given Wednesday. Why protect the instrument with silk when it's already inside a case? -Silk is a natural fiber that insulates against changes in temperature and humidity protecting your instrument from those sudden shifts. -Protect your instrument from bumps and scratches from wandering bows, rattling rosin, or other items that might come loose in the case. -Add your personal flair to a generic case lining. Why this wrap instead of a traditional bag? -My double layer design insulates and protects better than a single layer bag. -Because the fabric is strong but delicate, it still fits in all but the tightest of cases. -Easy to get the instrument out and easy to pack up. -Luxurious look and feel that will help you feel like the rockstar you are, every time you open your case! What’s it made of? -The interior is buttery soft silk charmeuse -The outer layer is silk dupioni, a fabric weave full of soft texture and character -Available in a variety of vibrant colors I’m always getting new colors, so if you’re intrigued but don’t see one that you love right now, send me a message! **This wrap is made to fit 16" violas with and without chinrests. If you have any concerns about fit, please contact me before ordering.** Check out my other offerings for viola, including traditional drawstring bags and drawstring-less sleeves: https://gussetandgather.etsy.com/?section_id=50305366 Looking for something for your violin? I've got things for that, too!: https://gussetandgather.etsy.com/?section_id=49639030 A note about colors: Colors can be hard to capture in a photograph, especially when the fabric is shiny and multi-colored as many of my silks are. I do my best, but between cameras and screen display settings, they may look a little different in real life than they do in these photos.

My favorite detail about the Cabin shift pattern, hands down, is the pocket. I love a dress with pockets (who doesn't?) and while working on this pattern I wanted to develop something that was unique and detailed but manageable for the everyday sewist. I have always liked the look of welt pockets,

Finding quick and easy to pack lunches for nurses can seem overwhelming. 12 hour shifts don't leave much time in the day for meal prep, so here are some quick lunch ideas for you!
A therapeutic corn bag is a Kernal Corn filled bag can be heated in a microwave or chilled in a freezer to help ease simple ailments. Some consider this a home remedy, others a welcome comfort, and in both cases it's useful. In fact, our son used one of our own on a kid style injury tonight and he felt much better. The casing and the bag are both made of a simple, cotton-poly blend. They are microwave safe. The cover is built like a pillow case and ready to be removed and washed. Those are my husband's hands in the pictures - he uses these bags a lot on a neck injury and the covers do get his topical cream on them. I have to wash them and they are simple to remove, wash, and replace. The inner bag is ribbed so that they stay flat. Non-ribbed bags shift a lot and don't stay where you need them. We've found that 3-rib bags of this size are perfect for almost every use we have. I personally use them with heat on my head. Josh uses them on his neck, frozen. For his headaches, he's also a cold guy. You'll find a lot of ways to use these - including even warming a child's bed if you live in a cold climate. We lived in a snow belt before moving to Orlando FL. Our kiddos loved the warmth of a bag in their beds. There's a lot of ways to use these simple but so comforting corn bags.

"Reversible quilted fabric is two fabrics that have a layer of batting between them, and then they are quilted together. This kind of fabric is great for bags, like my tablet cover, because you can have two fabrics – one for the outside and one for the inside of the bag, and the quilting keeps all of the layers from shifting. If ever you couldn't find reversible quilted fabric in your local fabric, you can make your own with this tutorial. "

A rummage through a shift shop and I found these lovely round bamboo handles on an old tired bag. I bought some designer print fabric at IKEA for this bag.

Size: Shown as picture Backing: Iron On Instructions: 1.Place the patch on the desired location with the adhesive side facing the fabric (do not remove the adhesive backing). Preheat an iron and iron the front of the patch for 10-20 seconds to secure it in place. You can also use a needle and thread to temporarily secure the patch before ironing to prevent it from shifting. 2.Turn the fabric (or other textile) with the securely positioned patch over, and iron the back for 30-60 seconds to ensure that the adhesive melts and the patch firmly adheres to the fabric. 3.Finally, iron the front of the patch for 1-2 minutes, focusing on the edges and corners, to ensure a smooth and seamless integration with the fabric (or other textile). Note: For patches with sequins, beads, rhinestones, silk flowers, or pom-poms, as well as patches embroidered with metallic thread, it is advisable to iron them from the back first. After firmly securing the patch, then iron the front to tidy up the edges and corners to avoid damaging the embellishments. Ensure that the fabric (or other textile) is dry, and do not use steam while ironing the patch or the fabric. Once the patch is properly ironed, it should stay securely attached to the fabric (or other textile) for an extended period. If the patch starts to come off after some time or washing, it indicates that the iron temperature was too low or the ironing time was too short.
