Hi Friends! It's always fun to share new products with you, but today we get to share a new card format! The mini slimline!! I am madly in love! It's the cutest size, just like a little pamphlet, and the smaller size makes filling the space so much easier, yet there's still plenty of room to write your message inside. You may have arrived on the blog hop from Keia Shipp-Smith, but if not feel free to start with the Pinkfresh Studio Blog. Mini Slimline Essentials Die Set This mini slimline card is 3 1/4" x 6 1/4" and has a Mini Slimline Essentials Bundle Pack with everything you need, including two types of stitched mat sets! This card uses the horizontal stitching rectangle die, but there's also a diagonal stitched rectangle die, both in several different sizes. There are two different Blanket Stitched Oval Dies and each one cuts an oval and an oval hole. I used the smaller oval hole here to have the Joyful Peony pop through, and the larger oval shape to outline it. LOVE all that texture around the oval! I curved the sentiment to follow the shape of the oval and embossed it in gold. The patterned paper on the front and inside the card is from the Happy Blooms 6x6 Paper Pad. TIP: Looking for an easy way to pick coordinating papers? Flip the paper over! The diamond patterned paper inside the card is actually the reverse side of the pink floral pattern on the front. Love this trick, as you're sure to get a well-matched patter without much thought or second guessing! Did you notice the MATCHING ENVELOPE underneath the card?! So darn cute!! There's a Mini Slimline Envelope Die for this! The paper used for this envie, as well as the next two envies are from the Some Days 12x12 Paper Pack. This card shows what both of the diagonal stitched mini slimline rectangles look like together on a card. Love the layers! My new favorite edge is the Folk Edge Circle Die Set! What a great mix of stitching and tiny holes! I haven't seen anything like it on the market. I used one of the smaller circles in this set to cut a slit for me to stick the floral stems thru. The flowers are leftovers from one set of the Be Strong Stamp/Die/Stencil set ... this is the third card I've made with the dies from this set, and I've still got one floral bunch left. Such a useful set, I've kept it out on my desk! Added epoxy dots for good measure. I layered the main sentiment on top of the larger secondary sentiment to make it a little more interesting. Finally, this card uses the Diagonal Stitched Rectangle die to cut the panel, with the Be Strong image stamped on the die cut. Once I adhered the bottom Butterfly to the panel I die cut the Diagonal Stitched Rectangle again to make it stay in the background. The layered circle die cuts are also from the Mini Slimline Essentials Die Set. So many different combinations possible. I embossed one of the sentiments from the Butterflies set (which unfortunately is still out of stock, but will be restocked in early June, so keep checking back! Such a great set). Just the body of the butterfly is glued down, so you can fold out his wing. More 12x12 double sided Some Days paper was used to make the cute ccoordinating envelope. The set of cards I'm sharing today is from the Fluttering Friends stamp and die set from the Enchanted Forest Bundle, with adorable bird illustrations that are so flexible for different coloring styles. For these cards I've only used watercolors. Let's take a closer look! This card uses all four of the new Ink Colors! The background of the card, and the chartreuse elements in the bird's feathers are from my new favorite color, Lemongrass. The red in the cardinal is watercolored from the inside of the Rouge ink pad cover, the purple on the tail and wing is from Queen for a Day, and the leaves are watercolored in Sage with Lemongrass highlights. Wonderful colors that work so well together! This card features a wonderfully-sized text background from the rubber stamp F as in .... Love that you can stamp this in a light color that doesn't detract too much, and results in a nicely covered background, with a thin white margin. Perfect for so many different styles. The leaves and acorns are fun to layer up and create a place for these birds to rest awhile. This next card uses a similar concept, only instead of the oak leaves, I've layered the smaller-leaved foliage and the tiny berries underneath the sentiment. The background is smooshed with Seafoam Ink. This bird looks similar to a gold finch, so that's how I colored him. I love the extra little bits included, like the berries and acorns. My third card is stamped with the same F as in ... background stamp and shaded. Then I cut the tiny leaved die cut element in half and used that as tree cover on top of the panel. The bird is carrying two of the sentiments in her beak. And here they are all together ... I really had fun making these! In case you missed it, here are the two cards from yesterday's IG hop. Hello and welcome to the Colorado Craft Company new release blog hop! This release features the artistry of Kris Lauren, and several of her adorable critters. What a cute sentiment! And scene to support it. In fact, this Good Company Stamp Set comes with two different choices of company to ride in your basket - this little bunny, or a fox. Either a worthy companion for Mr. Bear. There are also a few flowers to fancy things up. Because the lines of the bicycle are so narrow for coloring, I didn't want to get out my watercolors, so I turned to my colored pencils. It's been a hot minute since I've played with these, and quite enjoyed it. Making fur for Mr. Bear was enjoyable, as well as the grass. To finish this one off I sponged some yellow for a nice sunny day and blended a bit of sky on top of the card. This little guy is just hands down adorable!! He looks so pleased with himself. He's from the Oceans to Fly set and is one of two different airplane pilots. The sentiment is so cute for my little nieces and nephews! And I like that it can be for many different occasions. Since the main image is small, I was thinking about what kind of background to make for the rest of the card. Then it occurred to me to just use the large airplane stamp! The last card features the other airline pilot, who's quite excited to spot his adventure ahead! I still had the colored pencils out from the bear riding a bicycle card so I put them to use on this card as well. It was fun to mix in a few different colors on the plane. The banner sentiment is from a smaller set called Greetings Banner. After cutting the banner out and attaching it, I bent it up so it folds inward and would fit into an A2-sized envelope. Originally I had just cut out several white clouds and layered them on the bottom of the card (see top photo). After photographing the card, I thought it was too washed out and didn't show well enough, and regretted not inking the edges before adhering them to the card base. Well, I decided to try inking the edges without removing the clouds from the card by slipping a piece of paper underneath the edges and sponging with the fine blending brushes which I love. I was happy that it worked! I added another sentiment embossed in gold, and tucked it behind the cloud puffs. Prizes! We're doing two different giveaways! You may have come from my dear blogging friend, Michele Ferguson, but if not feel free to start at the beginning in the CLASSroom. I was so excited to be assigned the Otterly Awesome stamp and die set, especially since it's very similar to the All Inside Bear stamp and die set that I went nuts over in the Winter 2016 blog hop. My initial plan was to show 5 ways to use this adorable otter, but I got so intrigued by the Hinged Thanks Die that instead I decided to do ... FIVE different ways to use the Hinged Thanks Die 1. Add colors underneath each letter. This method works with any card design! Just pull a few colors from the rest of your card, and add them underneath each letter. You can do this by cutting out small blocks of colored paper to put underneath, or simply color the spaces underneath with a marker. Such an easy way to tie in your sentiment to the rest of the design of your card. 2. Die cut on different colored strips of paper. This can quickly be adapted to your recipient. The colors used on this card result in a masculine card, but you can just as easily pick pinks and oranges for a feminine card. The fun part is picking which color to go underneath the die! I opted for a bright orange to really contrast with the blue (they're opposites on the color wheel). Love how this die lets you easily add a "hidden" surprise element to your design. 3. Die cut right in the middle of your design So fun making a pattern with the nail polish bottle from Make it Beautiful! After coloring all the nail polishes, and then coloring in the negative spaces with dark gray, I held my breath and sent it through the die cutting machine. You really only get one chance with this! But it sure does look great once it works out. Not sure if you noticed, but all the nail polish bottles are spaced so that each letter would be a different color. Here's the view from the side. Love how this die automatically gives your card dimension, without any additional bulk whatsoever. It's the best of both worlds! 4. Mix up the letters Just because it's a "thanks" die doesn't mean you have to use it to say "thanks." There's nothing stopping you from cutting up the letters and making your own sentiment, like Santa! I'm sure you've all seen the simple Santa cards that just use red, white and black cardstock to make Santa's suit, but putting a sentiment on those cards without ruining the simple design is quite challenging. Problem solved! Cutting the hinged thanks in black doesn't interfere with it being Santa's belt, yet it still gets the message across in a subtle way. 5. Use it on a Bendi card. Before getting into this method in regards to the Hinged Thanks die, let's pause for a moment to soak in all the adorable otters from Otterly Awesome and Otterly Awesome Dies and their accessories from Otter Ware and Otter Ware Dies! Awww! I admit there's a lot more going on than I usually have on a card, but I really wanted to include it all! I mean c'mon, otters holding sea shells and sea urchins?! Cuteness overload. The wonky circles and scallops in this ocean are from another new set in this release, Wonky Backdrops. Back to the Hinged Thanks die, this method really highlights the unique feature of the hinged letters. Putting the sentiment on the curve makes the letters stand out even more! Another difference on this card is that the actual letters are colored in a different color to help them stand out from the background. I just put a piece of paper underneath the letters when coloring the letters to make sure I didn't get stray marks on the background.
