This week we discuss Peter being set free from prison. God sent an angel, and they walked right past the guards! There is a game to play and review for the lesson. The game can be used just as a game board, or it can be used as a file folder game. It is short but should really help make the review fun for the students! It was three years after Jesus was crucified, and King Herod decided to harass the Christians. He had James the apostle killed, and because that made the Jews happy, he decided to kill Peter also. The scripture for today's lesson is Acts 12:1-19. King Herod had Peter arrested and put him in prison and then Peter was taken to four squads of soldiers (16 men) to guard him while they waited for him to be brought to trial. Peter was kept in prison, but the Christians were constantly praying to God. Luke tells us in verse 5 that the church was praying for Peter. A church building can't pray. The people are the church. Peter was asleep the night that King Herod was ready to take him out of prison to go before the people. He was between two soldiers and was tied up with two chains. There were also guards at the door of the prison. An angel from God stood by Peter, and there was a light shining in the prison. The angel hit Peter in the side and sat him up telling him to "Hurry, get up!" The chains fell off of Peter's hands. The angel told him to get dressed and put on his sandals. When Peter was ready, the angel said, "Put on your coat and follow me." Peter followed the angel, but he wasn't sure if what the angel had done was real, he thought the angel might be a vision! The angel and Peter went past the first and second guard posts and they came to the iron gate that led into the city. The gate opened by itself, and they went out and went down one street, then the angel left. Peter finally realized he wasn't dreaming and knew that God had sent one of His angels to help him! The angel saved Peter from King Herod and the Jewish people that wanted to kill Peter. After Peter thought about it, he went to Mary's house. She was the mother of John 'Mark'. There were a lot of Christians there praying for Peter. He knocked on the door of the gate and a girl named Rhoda answered. When she recognized Peter's voice, she was so excited that he was there, she didn't open the gate! Instead, she ran in and announced to everyone that Peter was at the gate! They did not believe her, but Rhoda kept telling them that Peter was really outside at the gate. They said, "It has to be his angel." Peter kept knocking and when they finally opened the door, and saw that Peter really was outside, they were amazed! Peter motioned with his hand to be quiet, and he told them how God had sent His angel to get him out of prison. Peter told them to go tell James and the other Christians what happened, then Peter left to go somewhere else. As soon as it was daytime, the soldiers were frantically looking for Peter. They couldn't figure out what had happened to him, and the soldiers couldn't find Peter! I created something a little different for this lesson! You can print one (or more for bigger classes) and use with the class or print enough for the students to take home as a file folder. If you are using at home, or using as a file folder game, there is a cover to print. This is a very short game, and the directions are in the download. Click here to download. Each week for this series of Acts, I will have something for the students to add to their IFA bag, Click here to see more. Some items will be purchased and some will be printables. For this week, I found binocular foam necklaces at Hobby Lobby. You can find plastic ones here, but they were too much for me. I have created a pattern if you would like to make your own set. You can cut out foam or print onto cardstock. You can find string or plastic cord in any craft isle to attach to them. Also, there is a perfect area to write a scripture on these! Here is an object lesson well suited for Sunday School or any children's ministry setting. It shows how we can't fully trust God and still worry about problems.
Did Jesus have to be physically present with someone to heal him or her? No. When He healed a royal official’s son in John 4:46-54, He was in Cana and the sick boy was in Capernaum, about 20 miles away. These lesson activity pages highlight this miracle, which proved Jesus had absolute power over sickness, even from a distance.
Are you ready for another Bible lesson? Today we are looking at an exciting walk that two of Jesus' disciples were taking on the road to Emmaus. This happened during the evening on Easter Sunday - the same day that Mary Magdalene and her friends found the tomb empty! After Jesus rose from the dead, He appeared to people. This story is about one of those special visits. You can read the story in a children's Bible or you will find it in Luke 24:13-35. If you don't have a bible, you can read it in d

Coloring page and activity to coincide with {{Lesson 30: I Can Forgive Others}} {{Free Printable PDF Coloring Page Here}} Forgiveness Means Letting Go of Hard Feelings - Activity/Object Lesson Prep: Gather 6 large rocks, and with a marker write on them words such as: anger, sadness, frustration, disappointment, annoyed, impatient. Find a plastic ice cream bucket, beach pail, or a fabric bag, into which all of the rocks can fit. Discuss: When we hold onto bad feelings because of something somebody else did, it actually makes us feel worse. But when we can let go of hard feelings and forgive others, we can feel free and happy. Activity: Ask for a volunteer to come to the front of the class and hold the empty bucket. Round One: Give a few scenarios, such as "Your little brother borrowed your favorite toy without asking and then he accidentally broke it. When he told you what happened, you were [insert emotion word on rock]." With each scenario, place one of the heavy rocks into the bucket. Ask the child things like, "Is the bucket getting heavier?" Depending on the size of the rocks, the child may not be able to hold all six. Allow other children to help hold the bucket if needed. Round Two: Read the scenarios again, this time adding the following phrase to the end: ...and you said, "That's okay, I forgive you." Each time the scenario ends with this phrase allow the children to get rid of one of the rocks. Ask, "Is the bucket feeling lighter?" Continue until the bucket is completely empty.

Our NEW LESSON for this week is about the prophet JEREMIAH!!! I LOVE Jeremiah. He is a WONDERFUL EXAMPLE for all of us---but, especially for young people!! I am excited about teaching this LESSON. I love how the KIDDOS seem to connect with the YOUNG people in the Bible. They seem so excited when they find out that YOUNG people can and did do GREAT THINGS for GOD!!! This is our Do You Know Wall? I feel if the KIDDOS can answer these questions they UNDERSTAND what they have learned!! We have some NEW information on our ever growing Bulletin Board. WE have added JEREMIAH the PROPHET!!! Currently he is placed by the crown of Josiah. Remember, Josiah was KING when GOD CALLED JEREMIAH to be HIS Prophet. We have also added a PROPHET CARD to the PROPHET LINE under the Bulletin Board. We have added Jeremiah the Prophet to our GOD'S AWESOME PLAN for MAN, TIMELINE!!! The KIDDOS will have two new words to add to the WORD WALL. PUNISH and AFRAID. Although I am sure they KNOW the basic meaning to these WORDS I want to make sure they understand HOW these WORDS are important parts of this story. (Truly the KIDDOS will be able to RELATE to these two WORDS.) This weeks Memory Verse comes directly from the TEXT. It is GOD'S promise to Jeremiah. I LOVE the comfort and strength found in this verse!! If you want to hear the tune we will be singing this Memory Verse to, just click this link below. It will open up the Facebook Page for HOBT. Jeremiah 1:9 Memory Verse Tune by Ronda L. Duvall The KIDDOS will be learning this song during this lesson. I feel this is a VERY catchy song....so, hopefully they will be singing it throughout the next two weeks. :-) I hope their parents do not mind. If you would like to hear this song click on the link below. It will open up the Facebook Page for HOBT. Jeremiah Was a Young Man...by: Ronda Duvall. I would open the FB page and let it play as you read the words from this page...for some reason my video on FB is NOT very good quality. The KIDDOS will be making a Jeremiah The Prophet Puppet as their TAKE HOME project. These are made from Brown Paper Lunch Size Bags. I did draw the FACE, MOUTH, ETC. Then I Copied them onto CARD STOCK paper for stability purposes. I HOPE he looks YOUNG!! By the way, I am going to have the KIDDOS carefully WRITE the MEMORY VERSE inside Jeremiah's Mouth. I just realized I had not shown you our VISUAL. I am still using the PICTURE frame to HOLD up this weeks VISUAL. I decided to go with a POSTER style VISUAL since we are making PUPPETS. After we get the PUPPETS made, I am going to have the KIDDOS help me "RETELL" the story. OUR review game is similar to games we have played in the past....AS the KIDDOS answer a question from the story they will get to help "OPEN" Jeremiah's Mouth. To simply say it, they will remove a piece of the PUZZLE. Under the PUZZLE PIECES it reads, "I HAVE PUT MY WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH." Next week will be our REVIEW WEEK. During this CLASS time the KIDDOS will make their "EXPLORER JOURNAL" project. I know they will be EXCITED about this one! The KIDDOS will get to glue on a "BIG" 3-D hand coming out of COTTON BALL clouds and touching Jeremiah's mouth. After all the Bible tells us, "Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth..." Jeremiah 1:9a I bought the hands at the DOLLAR TREE. They were in the teacher/school supply area. They are originally pointers. However, with a gentle twist the hand popped right off. The only dilemma ---NOW, I am wondering what I am going to do with all those POINTER RODS. LOL. I hope you have enjoyed seeing what the KIDDOS will be doing during Bible Class on Sunday. I LOVE seeing how excited they get---WE WANT THEM EXCITED!!!! After all, they are learning LIFE CHANGING and SOUL SAVING Lessons. Blessings, Ronda
