Raku Inoue (previously) goes all-white in his latest flower petal compositions. The Montreal-based creative uses flower petals, stems, and leaves to form creatures ranging from owls and tigers to beetles and butterflies in his ongoing Natura series. Inoue takes advantage of the natural curvatures and shapes of his source materials to create lively interpretations of animals. In Inoue’s owl, densely-petaled mums form the bird’s fluffy belly, while the angular outlines of alstroemeria create the exoskeleton and horns of a beetle. More

For a new series titled Natura Insects, Montreal-based creative Raku Inoue arranged a variety of leaves and blooms to create the delicate components of stag beetles, butterflies, and other insects. While the same results could be easily produced using digital or collage techniques, Inoue pushed the concept even further and used real flowers which he then photographed as you see here. You can see more from the series on Instagram. More

Since graduating in 2018, Amber Davenport has grown into a full time venture, with an ever growing product range. I am passionate about protecting the environment in which the plants and animals I paint live. La vrillette du bois est probablement le moins connu des insectes xylophages. Elle fait pourtant des ravages dans la maison si on ne prend pas les moyens de l’éradiquer.

When I came across an insect hotel on Pinterest about two years ago, I was intrigued immediately. I hadn’t seen or heard of one before. I learned that insect hotels are predominantly made from natural materials to provide nesting facilities and shelter to beneficial insects, especially during the winter months. When we planted some tomatoes this year and they got affected by aphids, I remembered this concept. I don’t like using any kind of pesticides and rather wanted try to attract beneficial insects to our garden, which would eat up aphids and other damaging insects, snails etc. When I mentioned to dear hubby, that I would like to have an insect hotel, he right away ran into the shed to grab some reclaimed wood and started building one. Well, not exactly but it didn’t take me very long to persuade him. Some homemade chocolate muffins might have been involved. When hubby had finished the main structure, we filled the house with twigs, bamboo, straw, bark, pine cones and a piece of a tree trunk with some holes drilled in it. I took a piece of driftwood and painted a “Vacancy” sign. Even insects want to know how much a night in a hotel will cost them. So I made this sign with the rates for our comfortable rooms and suites. We have special rates for long-term guests and packages are available as well. Now we wait for our guests to check-in and hope to have less pest infestation next year. This months batch are outstanding ( in my opinion) including many new to me. Some stunning stuff here. It never ceases to amaze me at the wealth of talent spread across the World. I don't comment on every one and this is no reflection on those artists. Several have featured before. I just comment off the cuff. Hope you like them. After looking at this lot I'm off to trash my paintings! Back to the drawing board. You may notice a few have 'copyright' or the artists names emblazoned across them. I'm assuming it's alright to feature them as I have no profit or other motives. If objections were received I'll delete them as there are thousands more with no such restrictions. Dean Crouser - I've always liked this American artists work and this is superb,. Eginta Tarasevich -Wonderful! Karl Martens. I like this artists studies of birds very much. He actually paints very large. Konstantin Sterkhov Igor Sava Adisom Pornsirikavn -Wow! Lian Quan Zhen What a stunner this is! Rick Huang Charles Reid Look at the simplicity of this. It's probably a half sheet painting. Darren Woodhead - Lovely Claude Buckle - Group of refugees, very effective Pol Ledent Chien Chung-Wei Hitesh Durgani Arthur Melville Another from Dean Crouser - I love this one too. Annemiek Grouenhout Jen Buckley Jem Bowden Eiginta Tarasevich Just had to put this in.

Our society discards a lot of electronics, as they are rendered obsolete almost every day, but artists like Julie Alice Chappell, based in the UK, are there to pick up the pieces and turn them into beautiful recycled art. In her case, she turns old computer circuit boards and electronics into beautiful winged insects in a series called "Computer Component Bugs."
