Free printable preschool Bible lesson on Nehemiah. Learn about how God empowered him to rebuild the wall through worksheets, coloring pages, crafts and more
The city of Jerusalem was in ruins after Babylon had conquered the nation decades earlier. Now it was time to rebuild the city wall and God would use Nehemiah to do this. These Nehemiah and the Wall Bible activities for kids will help children learn about this event and encourage them to serve Him as Nehemiah did.
Saven maar!
Nehemiah gathered the people together to rebuild the walls. He read the Book of Moses and wanted to make sure the people stayed faithful to God's ways. Nehemiah asked some friends about Jerusalem. They told him that the people who had survived being captives were suffering. The walls of Jerusalem had been broken down and the gates were burned with fire. When Nehemiah heard this news, he was very upset. He sat down and cried for days. Nehemiah fasted and prayed to God. He told God that He is a 'great and awesome God'. God is faithful to those that keep His commandments and love Him. Nehemiah asked God to hear his prayer. He asked God to give him mercy and to let him do well. Nehemiah is the king's cup bearer. When Nehemiah gave the king his glass of wine, the king could see how sad Nehemiah was. The king (Artaxerxes) asked Nehemiah why he was so sad. He didn't want the king to be upset, but Nehemiah told the king that he was sad because Jerusalem was destroyed. The king asked Nehemiah "What do you want?" Nehemiah prayed and asked the king if he could be sent to Judah to rebuild the city. The king asked him how long he planned to be gone. Nehemiah told him a time and asked the king if he would send letters to the governors in the area asking them to allow him to travel safely through their lands. Also, a letter requesting wood to use to rebuild. Nehemiah gave the letters from the king to the governors. The king also sent captains of the army and horsemen with Nehemiah. After Nehemiah was in Jerusalem for three days, he went during the night to see all the damage that had been done. Nehemiah asked the people to help him build the wall of Jerusalem. They agreed to help and began to rebuild the city. There was a lot of work to do! Most of the people went right to work and began rebuilding. Gates and walls were being built. But, there were a few that didn't like it. They decided to attack and cause confusion. (Nehemiah 4:7-8) Watchmen were told to watch for trouble and the people prayed to God. Nehemiah put people with weapons at the openings of the wall. He told the people to "Remember that God is great and awesome! Do not be afraid of them! God will fight for us!" Half of the servants worked on building the wall and the half guarded the people. (Nehemiah 4:14, 20) Nehemiah was appointed governor of Judah for 12 years. (Nehemiah 5:14) He took care of the people and the wall was finished in 52 days. (Nehemiah 6:15) When the gate doors were hung, Nehemiah made a record of the families. Nehemiah gathered everyone together in an open area. (Nehemiah 8:1) Ezra brought the book of the law of Moses and read it to everyone that could understand from the morning to midday. Ezra stood on a platform above everyone and blessed the great Lord. When he opened the book, everyone stood up. They worshipped God and were happy to know God's Words. (Nehemiah 8:12) When Nehemiah dedicated the wall of Jerusalem, the people came together and were so happy! They were full of joy that God had blessed them. (Nehemiah 12:43) After the reading of the law of Moses, Nehemiah also made sure the temple and priests were doing things the way God said to. Nehemiah had left Jerusalem to return to the king, and Nehemiah found out that while he was away, things were not done God's way. When Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem, he gathered up the rulers and 'put them in their place!' (Nehemiah 13:11) He straightened out the problems, cleaned out all the idols (pagan) and told the people to honor God's rules. (Nehemiah 13:29-30) Nehemiah kept God’s laws and wanted the people to obey God’s laws. (Nehemiah 4:4-6) This is a simple application worksheet to review Nehemiah and the people working together to rebuild the wall. This week we made a mystery box. We sealed a box (taped it up) & painted it with acrylic paint. Then cut a hole in one side - large enough to put our hand in. Then covered the hole with a felt 'drape' , to deter peeking. Objects were selected to 'hide' inside. As we created the box I described to the children how it would be used. The object of this activity is to put your hand in and select an item, then describe the item without looking and before taking it from the box. It's very hard not to peek when you are 2 or 3 years old, but over all the tots did well. Next week when we use it I will toss in a chocolate Easter egg for them to find - without looking! :)

i wouldn't change my job title for anything. being a wife and mom is the BEST! emery's curiosity is my daily reward for staying home - we have the best adventures and she makes everything so much fun. yesterday wasn't any different... toddler activity: balloon sensory matching when i worked at the preschool, one of my all time favorite themes was the week devoted to the 5 senses. one of the center time activities was a matching game. I filled balloons with various things and created cards with pictures of each thing. the kids got to squish, poke, and prod and then lay the balloons on the card they thought was the right match. i know emery isn't there yet, but i keep seeing sensory balloons on pinterest and thought i'd make them again! i still have the cards, so for the sake of the post, i thought i'd fill them with what's in the pictures, even though it wont matter for her right now! all you need is a funnel {for some things}, the balloons, and various items that are different sizes and textures. feeling the rice balloon! she loved watching mommy use the funnel to fill it! things got a little messy... corn through our funnel was a no go. so we put them in ourselves. she wanted in that flour bag so bad! funneling the sand. we also did shampoo and marbles. honestly, i was surprised how much she loved these - i didn't think they would last that long, but she loved picking them up one by one and squishing them! in a few years, i'll add in the cards and i wont let her help me fill them so she wont know what's in what! i just found the pictures on google images, printed them off, traced a balloon image, and laminated them {which definitely isn't necessary, i just had access to one at the preschool and with 12 new kids every year, i needed them to last!} {marbles, corn, rice.} {flour, shampoo, sand.} love and guessing games, amber.
