Photographic album once owned by Miss Mabel Annie Burnip (1893-1984). The album may have been bequeathed to Mabel Burnip from Dr Ethel Mary Nucella Williams (1863-1948) of Stocksfield, UK. This highly decorated Victorian album contains photographic images collaged with hand- painted borders and embellishments. The album pages contain a mixture of photographic reproductions of paintings that depict social, historical, and religious scenes or events alongside domestic family photographs and cartes-de-visites of notable people including royal and military figures. The album is bound in red leather with the name ‘MARY’ embossed in gold on the front cover.

In capturing images of doomed buildings, they documented the city they thought they were losing.
This is a beautiful 1800's Antique Victorian Photograph Album with it's ORIGINAL HAND PAINTED Portrait of a woman. The Plaque is Artist signed in the bottom corner. It is also Chock full of Victorian women photos, children, babies, Cabinet Cards, Tin Type, & more. The front plaque is surrounded by a decorated solid bronze French style picture/ portrait frame. This is truly a RARE FIND! So, Don't miss out! **Size** It is 10 1/2" long and 8" wide **Condition** In great condition for its age, there is wear to the album and the velvet is worn off. An exquisite postcard album with a beautiful relief and embossed floral cover. There is no date but its age is late Victorian possibly very early Edwardian. However the design on the front is very Art Nouveau so could even be 1880'sish. This would be perfect to re-use with either postcards, photographs or as a sketchbook. You could create mini postcard size artworks and use it as a year project. How fabulous would that be!!! Good structural condition for age just a little wear to the front cover where the crease of the spine joins the bottom edge of the cover. There is also a few pages that have come away to the centre. You can either remove these and put to one side or try and re-join them back to the album. They have just come away from the spine that is actually a series of concertinaed pleats that the pages are individually stapled to. Approx 43cm x 23cm x 5cm

In Allegheny County, PA in the year 1792, the grand sum of one hundred and twenty pounds was enough to buy a farm, including: four cows, three calves, two bay horses, seven sheep, two sows, twelve shotes, three feather beds and bedding, furniture, and the crops in and out of the ground. Back then, they were setting their "seals" to documents, just as we do today - note the hand-drawn "seal" in the lower right-hand corner.
