This weekend couldn't have come soon enough because I've had new rubber sitting here calling my name since Wednesday. This card came together rather quickly, but you would laugh if you knew how many times I tied and re-tied that ribbon! I just couldn't get it to look right, nor could I decide whether to use the Tangerine Tango, or the Kiwi Kiss 5/8" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon. Taylor VanBruggen's Cupcake Challenge #31 seems the perfect fit for my new stamp set, Upsy Daisy, and a great opportunity to use Hawaii Papaya DP from the new 2008 Fall-Winter Idea Book & Catalog. It's difficult to see in the photograph, but I added Diamond Stickles to the Upsy Daisy image for some sparkle and depth. RECIPE Stamps: Upsy Daisy Paper: Hawaii Papaya DP, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss, and Whisper White DP Ink: Chocolate Chip Embellishments: Tangerine Tango 5/8" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Dew Drops (non-SU) Tools: Horizontal Slot Punch Supplies: Diamond Stickles (non-SU), Stampin' Dimensionals
Snow day means stamping for me!! I need to send out a few birthday cards in the coming days, so I set out to make some this afternoon. Here ...
Hello! So the sketch over at Try Stampin’ on Tuesday looks like a Polaroid picture to me! I chose a color combination that I am in love with lately so I pulled out a piece of Pool Party cards…

Today's card uses Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try 11/29/08 and Color Challenge #195 of Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Sahara Sand. The main image from Upsy Daisy was stamped first with Jet Black Staz-On, the stamped again in Sahara Sand Classic Ink using my Stamp-a-ma-jig for a shadowed effect. The sentiment was stamped with Jet Black Staz-On onto Very Vanilla prior to dry embossing with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. The large Sahara Sand background piece was stamped in Versamark with the Polka Dota background stamp. I'm not wild about my use of the Very Vanilla 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, but am out of Basic Black, and it does not come in Sahara Sand (but sure wish it did for this card!).RECIPE Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Polka Dot Background Paper: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Sahara Sand CS Ink: Jet Black Staz-On, Sahara Sand Classic, and Versamark Embellishments: Very Vanilla 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon Tools: Stamp-a-ma-jig, CM Custom Cutting System for circle cutting (non-SU), Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and Cuttlebug machine (non-SU) Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals
Good Monday Morning Peeps!!! Hope your weekend went well! We are having beautiful weather here in southwest Missouri! Today's card is made with Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. My card is a 5 inch square of PTI white card stock. I followed that by 1/4 inch smaller piece of elegant eggplant. The beautiful DS paper is from the Autumn Traditions pack. The piece to the side is elegant eggplant again that I ran through the cuttlebug with my swiss dot embossing folder. The ribbon is the whisper white Organza Ribbon. I stamped the flowers in elegant eggplant ink and cut the circle and scallop circle with my nesties. The sentiment is stamped with eggplant on some scrap white and punched out with the oval punch and layered onto a punched oval scallop. I added a small library clip. Well, that is all for today, thanks so much for stopping by today and HAPPY STAMPING!!! Vicki

Recently a friend asked me to make a thank you card for someone. It had to be bigger than a standard sized card so that several people could sign it. I wanted it to look pretty because I thought that would suit the person receiving it, so I chose pinks! I used Upsy Daisy again, which I love, and markers to ink it up. The marker colours were Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Close to Cocoa. You can't see it very well, but the flowers have a touch of Dazzling Diamonds glitter, which I felt worked nicely with the silver of the filigree brad. The cardstock colours are Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink and Pink Pirouette. A week later it was my grandmother's 89th birthday so I thought I'd make her a similar card. Once again, the prettiness suited her dainty, sweet nature. It's wet and cold here in Canberra this long weekend. We are having an inside, pottering about kind of day. Hope you are having a lovely weekend.
I used the Upsy Daisy dies from My Favorite Things and made a couple cards with a couple different old sketches for a couple different looks... I punched 1 1/4" squares, layered the flowers and added a MFT sentiment. For the second one, and for those of you that know my style...IT'S PASTEL...I NEVER do Pastel!!!!!. I just loved the thought of making the daisies pastel with pastel stems...go figure... The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti, using a Simon Says Stamp stitched circle die(love these dies!!)...Popped up the white panel on the card... Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lots to share today! First up is my sample for this week's challenge at Our Creative Corner. Denise, our November host, has a fun one for us this week - use a silhouette stamp. We also welcome Silke Ledlow (aka sparklegirl on SCS) as our guest designer this week, so you're also invited to add some sparkle to your card if you want. The OCC designers' samples are all posted on the Our Creative Corner blog, and also on their individual blogs. Be sure to check them out: Cindy Haffner Dawn Easton Denise Marzec Jennifer Meyer Julee Tilman Lynda Benden For my card, I combined Stampin' Up's Upsy Daisy set with some Urban Garden designer paper (also SU!) and used this week's SCS color challenge colors: Basic Gray, Pacific Point, and Certainly Celery. I inked the image in Pacific Point, stamped off once, then sponged Pacific Point onto the flower tips. I liked how this gave me a slight color gradation. I then painted on some Angel Wings Shimmerz. The scallop border is one of the Martha Stewart punches. I got the idea to add piercing to the scallops from OCC teammate Dawn Easton. We'd love to have you play along. Remember to use keyword OCCC if you upload to SCS. Next up is my sample for Jen's Sketch for You To Try. As always, visit Jen at i{heart}2stamp to see the sketch, Jen's sample, and guest designer Becca Feeken's sample. Then visit Amy, Carole, Shannan, and Susan for more ways to use the sketch. Again, we'd love to have you play along. The keyword on SCS is SFYTT. Here's my take: The inspiration for this one was the Frosty Day designer paper from Stampin' Up (I think that's the name of it?). I finally got around to ordering some of the Stampin' Up holiday stuff. The sentiment was created with a Harmony Rectangular Stamper Set and the Brayton Font, both from JustRite Stampers. The snowflake I used to stamp on the sentiment panel is from the Christmas Joy set by Clear Art Stamps from Crafty Secrets, and the chocolate brads are from Pink Hedgehog Paper Crafts. I had hoped to have some kind of "teaser" project to post today as a reminder that the November Dirty Dozen gallery has been unveiled, but I just plain ran out of time. This month's theme was soooo much fun: Chick Lit. Even more fun are the two newest dirty girls, but you'll have to head to SCS for the full scoop ;) Check it all out right HERE. Or, for info on how to join the Fan Club, click here. If you're here for stamping and stamping only, that's it for today. If you like the non-stamping stuff occasionally, keep reading ... I mentioned on Thursday that it was my husband's and my fifteenth wedding anniversary - remember? Well, lookie what showed up in my driveway that afternoon: The limo took us in to Washington, DC for a wonderful dinner in Georgetown, followed by a show at the Kennedy Center. It was kinda rainy and yucky, so I can't tell you how nice it was to have door-to-door service all evening long. That said, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Say it with me: "That's a lot of stamps!" LOL! Please know that we are NOT extravagant people at all -- he even less than I! I'm 40 and had never been in a limo before. I have to confess that I gave my husband a little bit of grief for let's just say "insufficient hoopla" when I turned 40 two months ago. But now that I think about it, what's worth celebrating more? After all, staying married for fifteen years takes a LOT more work than merely aging a few decades, kwim? And here we are, me with my bad-hair day and everything: (By the way, I can't wait to get these braces off and smile like a normal person again. I don't know what DH's excuse is! Maybe that's what you look like after you've been married to ME for fifteen years - ROFL!) Thanks so much for visiting, and have a great weekend! I really like the Upsy Daisy Stamp Set, so when I was thinking of using the NEW Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper, I thought about the new In Colors as well. Here is Upsy Daisy stamped with Melon Mambo. I added a piece of Designer Series Paper across the top and a strip of Crushed Curry in the middle. The Scallop is Rich Razzleberry cardstock, the 1 3/8" punched circle is Pumpkin Pie, the 1 1/4" punched circle is Melon Mambo and the "C" is from Lovely Letters Alphabet stamped in Rich Razzleberry. All supplies are Stampin' Up!
I am preparing for an upcoming Necessities Bag organization fundraising workshop on April 9. Here's my first card that everyone will be making. All of the cards will be "Thank You" cards which will be donated to the organization. I love this color combination - Baja Breeze & Early Espresso - right on trend these days!

It's coming soon... the new Stampin' Up! Catalog debuts on June 1st. And in order to make room for the new stamp sets (yay!!) they'll have to retire a good number of the current ones (boo hoo!). Who knows what will retire? Anyone can guess, but the list will come…

There's a new challenge out there. It's called Dynamic Duos and it's hosted by the lovely Lesley of Always Playing with Paper. Here's the scoop on this challenge. Each week we will have two colours for you to use to create a card, scrapbook page, craft or digital project. Only the two colours, otherwise known as "The Dynamic Duo", may be used for your project. Neutrals such as black, brown, white, vanilla, skin colours and kraft are also welcome. This weeks challenge is I love blue and green together! Upsy Daisy has been a well loved set! I've done the flowers in so many colors and layouts. I'm not saying that I'll never use them again, because they'll be on my retired shelf and I don't mind pulling out the retirees. The layout for this card is from Ariel's retrosketches challenge. I've loved all the sketches she's posted, but don't always get to use one. I'm so glad I got to use this sweet sketch. After stamping, I went back with the fine point of the marker and added faint outlines to the petals and colored the centers of some of the daisies with Limeade. It still has a soft watercolor effect. A piece of DSP left over from Sale-a-bration was a perfect backdrop to this design. (Do you think they picked the colors from this paper.) Do you see that scalloped edge on top of the design piece? I decided I needed something up there and did some paper piercing. I had already put the pieces together and had to pierce from the back in order to get the line straight. I know now that you really need to pierce from the front! It badly needed a coverup. I had this scrap of embossed Adorning Accents Edgelit scallops and with just a little tweaking it covered it up beautifully. This is one case of a boo boo turning out better than planned. I'm not telling you about all the plans that went in the circular file. All supplies are Stampin' Up! Card Recipe Stamps: Upsy Daisy Ink: SU Markers (Pool Party, Lucky Limeade) Paper: Pool Party, Whisper White, Everyday Enchantment DSP Other: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Adorning Accents Edgelit die and EF, Pool Party Seam Binding Thanks so much for your visits and kind comments. They really brighten my day. Enjoy!

This is the last of three catch-up posts I'm making today to cover the second half of 2017. These five cards are a bit fresher in my mind than the ones in the previous two posts, so I'll be able to provide a bit more info on them. 1. Splitcoaststampers Sketch challenge SC671 - This interesting sketch turned into one of my more favorite Christmas cards of this year: I used my beloved Year of Cheer metallic DSP from Stampin' Up for this card as well as silver foil and Whisper White cardstock. The Joyce die cut is from last year's Candy Cane Lane Stamp of Approval, as is one of the die cut snowflakes. The other two snowflakes are from My Favorite Things. The snowflake behind the Joy was stamped with silver Delicata ink. 2. Peaceful Deer Scene - When I started my nature scene card for WCMD, I got off to a false start because I didn't realize at first that I would need to make a horizontal (landscape) card. For this card I began with the vertical (portrait) sky I initially watercolored and built from there. The tree and deer die cuts are from a Stampin' Up stamp set called Carols of Christmas along with its coordinating Card Front Builders thinlits die set. The card base is a piece of my precious Mint to Be, a long-retired SU color that I carefully hoard but for special occasions like this. 3. MFT Challenge - Card 1 This is the very first card I made with my early surprise Christmas present, a Brother ScanNCut. To say I'm in love with this machine doesn't even begin to express how I feel, and I'm sure I don't know the half of what it can do yet! All I can say is I have an extremely generous friend who must like me an awful lot!! (Massive thanks to you-know-who-you-are!) 4. MFT Challenge - Card 2 Because I had the stamps and paper out, I figured I'd see how quickly I could make a second card similar to the one above. Would you believe this took me under 20 minutes? It helped a great deal that the ScanNCut could cut out the cat and flower in seconds flat! This machine is going to be a real game-changer for me - not only in terms of cutting speed, but now I no longer have to spend a small fortune on coordinating ("cookie cutter") dies for stamp sets that might require some fussy cutting. I'm already looking at my old stamps differently now knowing that I can do so much more so much more easily. I haven't been this emotional about a tool since I got my Big Shot! 5. Thank You Berry Much - I needed a break from working on my Christmas cards and wanted to do something using my new ScanNCut... but what? My muse suggested I just reach into my bin of stamps I have at my feet (don't ask) and make something with whatever set I randomly grab. The winner was a Catherine Pooler Designs set called I Pick You, a fruit-themed set. I pretty much knew right away what I wanted to do: I used the ScanNCut to cut out a bunch of the small strawberries and then raised them up with Stampin' Dimensionals to give the card front a 3-D look: The inside: * * * * * * * * * * * * Whew! I have now posted all my finished cards from the second half of 2017. I really need to remember to post as I go so I don't have to do these massive catch-up posts. Coming up next: I should be finishing my mass-produced Christmas cards pretty soon (since they need to get to the post office!), and I am also working on a chicken card. :) (More on that later!) There's about 14 days til Christmas and holiday madness seems to be in full swing in most places judging from what I hear from my friends and see/read in the news and on social media. Just a reminder, if you're one of those people who are trying to move faster than the speed of sound: It's okay to stop, get one less thing done, and just savor the moment. Enjoy a cuppa hot chocolate or coffee, kick back and relax for a bit... YOU are worth more than anything you DO, so take care of YOU! Besides, we'll all be better off if you're better off. Peaceful smiles, Joyce Spear a.k.a. StamperJoyce
Hi Stamping Friends!! Woo! Hoo! We are past "hump" day. The weekend is right around the corner! Bummer that rain is in our forecast. That means I get to sit at a wet high school swim meet on Friday. :( But don't these inspiration pics from the Stampin' Celebration Challenge just make you smile?! They remind me of a bright sunny day. I just get happy looking at them! I love the bright yellow and green. I think I was on Valentine red and pink overload from the last month!! Time to add some color to my world!! I love the colors so much, I decided to make two cards. PERFECT PUNCHES Stamps: Perfect Punches Paper: Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight Patterns DSP Accessories: Large Oval Punch, Decorative Label Punch, Daisy die, Brights Designer Buttons, Tasteful Trim die, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Old Olive Satin Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones Sketch Challenge: UNSCRIPTED #93 UPSY DAISY Stamps: Upsy Daisy, So Happy For You (SAB) Paper: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Playdate DSP Accessories: Top Note die, Daisy die, Tasteful Trim die, Old Olive Satin Ribbon, Sweet Stitches Fabric Brads, Perfect Polka Dots EF, DD and OO Markers Sketch Challenge: THE SWEETEST THING #104 Technique Challenge: MOXIE FAB Stamping With Markers Happy sigh! Did I say how much I love these colors? :) I'm not done with them yet. I have another card in the works for my Sale-A-Bration Saturday post and may even have to use them again for Challenge Monday. Maybe if I use enough bright happy colors, the weather will do the say and be bright and happy instead of cold and dreary. I could only wish! Be sure and stop by the Stampin Celebration Challenge and see what the other Design Team members have created. I'm tellin' ya. Those girls rock my socks off every week!! Such a creative bunch they are! And I hope you have a chance to play along with us. We always welcome more stampers! Thanks for stopping by! Happy Stamping!

Embossing Powder Colours I probably should have started this series with these two cards, because they show the easiest way to use embossing powder and introduce the basic products for heat embossing. Coloured Opaque Embossing Powder Because heat embossed images are glossy, I usually use the technique on more contemporary cards. Unfortunately, this photo doesn't show how glossy the black embossed image is. I stamped the background flowers on paper with water-based ink and let it dry. Then, I swiped the surface with an Embossing Buddy. It's a little bag with powder (I think it's zinc) that keeps the embossing powder from sticking to the surface. Next, I stamped the flowers with a VersaMark pad. It's a clear sticky medium that holds the embossing powder really well. I poured Black embossing powder over the image and shook off the excess. Lastly, I used a heat tool to melt the powder. Craft Pigment ink comes in 40 colours. It's a VERY slow-drying opague ink with the ability to hold embossing powder so you can customize your heat embossing to match our Designer Papers and Card Stock. To prepare your card stock for heat embossing swipe it with an Embossing Buddy. I stamped the flowers with Craft inks, then covered the mat with Clear embossing powder. Shake off the excess powder and melt the powder with a heat tool. Again, the glossy appearance of the images isn't visible in this photograph.
