“Eh… So… Are you still homeschooling?” I hear that question a lot. And I get it. I mean, doing school every single morning. With three kids (one being a wild toddler). While running a blog and our doTERRA business. And writing a real, published cookbook. And keeping up with a homestead, etc, etc, etc. It sounds […]
This homemade herbal slime is guilt free! No toxins, borax free, no glue! Just 3 ingredients (one of them is water) and it's 100% edible! I'm a little late to the slime trend. I avoided it for so long because one it's messy and quite honestly.... with 5 kids, I just don't enjoy more mess. (I'm not one of those moms. I send my kids to Grandma's house for the messy crafts). The other reason I steered clear of homemade slime is because it always contained ingredients that were not natural enough for me. Many homemade slime recipes use glue

Please be sure to download the preview file for a sample of this product! Peter Brown's The Wild Robot was a very exciting novel to read to my third grade class! We were hooked from the start and my students thoroughly enjoyed the “wild” ride it took us on! We had so many great conversations around building relationships, taking care of the environment and learning to let go and cope with adversity. Somehow, this text is both simple and complex and I think that’s why it appeals to students of varying reading levels. There are so many ways to take this novel to a higher level, but at the same time, those students with comprehension skills that are still developing can appreciate it as well. This resource reflects the diverse reading levels any one classroom may have. This is an 82-page reading-response journal to accompany the text. There is a reading response activity to accompany all 80 chapters of this book. It is essential that the teacher assigning the questions/writing prompts has already read the text, as there is no answer key included with this product due to the open-ended nature of the questions/prompts. The pages should be assigned in order, but not every one of them needs to be assigned. In fact, I’d strongly advise against assigning each question as it would take far too long to complete the novel and students may lose interest. Teachers can mix and match and determine which questions/prompts will work best for individual students. This means that you can really customize this resource to suit the needs of your class. I created it with my own students in mind because I wanted to provide all students in my class with an opportunity to connect with the text on a personal level. Teachers can mix and match the questions and prompts for students to respond to, assemble them as a booklet, and assign this as a unique book report or as a reading-response journal. This product is perfect for: • providing students with an opportunity to read and write for a specific purpose • providing students with opportunities to generate, gather, organize ideas and information • teaching students how to self-assess via the success-criteria checklist • assessing reading comprehension skills • providing students with an opportunity to explore text-to-self connections • assessing your students’ writing skills as they relate to giving evidence from a text to support their ideas and opinions • use at Literacy Stations • assigning as homework • assisting students in preparing for the types of questions they might expect on a standardized test The product includes: • a title page for students to color • 2 pre-reading exercises designed to activate prior knowledge • 66 reading response questions or writing prompts. Each question/prompt includes a checklist for students to complete to make sure their work meets expectations • 2 word-study pages • 6 research-based prompts • 6 drawing prompts Should you need the checklist, or anything for that matter, modified to better suit your classroom or district expectations, don’t hesitate to email me. I’d be happy to make the changes and send you the revised product. Just to be sure this resource meets your expectations, here’s what it DOES NOT include: • There is no answer key or instructional guide to the text, teachers must read the book prior to assigning the questions/prompts • There are no “craftivities” or extension projects (e.g. Math or Visual Arts) suggested or included The great thing about this product is that it’s a mix-and-matcher. You can pick and choose which activities you want to use from one year to the next and from one student to another. Please be sure to download the preview file. It really is the best description of the product. In order for you to be sure this is the right product for you and your grade level, the free seven-page sample provides an overview of the type of questions/prompts you can expect from the full resource.
