Facebook parties can be a blast and very profitable for you and your hostess! Here are some tips, tricks, and timelines that you can explore! Please let your team leader know if you have any questions! Organization Tips o Create an image folder just for FB Parties, and then folders inside that for Pre-Party Posts, Party Posts, and After-Party Posts. o Click here to watch a video webinar of how to schedule all of your posts ahead of time using a service called CinchShare. (42 min.) (This is not necessary, but it's something to look into if you plan on doing a bunch of FB parties!) Hostess Coaching o Our parties live and die by hostess coaching! It's CRUCIAL to invest time in each hostess; she's the heart of our business. Everyone wants a ton of free books, they just don't know how to make that happen - we have to coach them to success! o After the hostess books her date, schedule a time to CALL her on the phone. By coaching her over the phone, we're more likely develop a relationship with her. After all, our hostesses are our best potential new team members! Yes, pick up the phone, give her a call, ask her about her children, let her know that you genuinely care about helping her have a successful party! Something like this will work: Hi, I'm the book lady for (Hostess)'s upcoming Usborne FB party! She is just awesome, and we both appreciate your RSVPing! I LOVE helping people find just the right books for their kiddos, so if you'd like to send me the ages of your children and some things they're into right now, I can shoot you back some recommendations! Looking forward to partying with you soon, and please let me know if I can help with anything before the big night! Talk soon! Creating the FB Event Page o Click on Events in left sidebar, then Create. A good name is something like 'Jill's Usborne Book Bash!' (I like to create the event from my personal page so that I can make it private.) o Click here to watch a video of how to create an event page (this is the same video using CinchShare above, but it will also show you how to set up the event in the first 5 minutes). o Possible event description for Details (copy/paste): ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SHOPPING LINK: (insert eShow link) Come join us for an all NEW party adventure! See you very soon! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o Where, something like 'Your own comfy couch!' is good. o Parties should be around 30 minutes long (an hour-long party is fine, too). Be sure to check the time with your hostess and make note of the time zone in posts. o Privacy should be set to Invite Only. Be sure to uncheck the box at the bottom that says 'Guests can invite friends.' Here's a good FB party banner to save and use if you'd like (click on image, then right click, Save As): Here's another one specifically for a business launch: (thanks, Lindsay O., for sharing!) o Once the event is created and you have the banner uploaded and saved, post 3-4 of the pre-party images below so the event wall is not blank when guests arrive. o When the event page is ready, one week before the party, click on Edit in the event page (top right), and add your hostess to the HOSTS line (be sure you're friends with her first). She'll get an invite and be able to invite her friends now, and then be sure to click SAVE at the bottom when you're finished: o After your hostess has been made a HOST, send her a private message or email letting her know to look for the invite. This is a sample FB message to send to the hostess one week out: -------- (script to copy/paste to hostess) -------- Hey, girl! Thanks again for hosting an Usborne FB party! Your event is up and ready - WOOT! I'm going to share with you my super-secret TOP tip for FB party success, ready?! My #1 tip for getting your friends to actually RSVP and come to the party is to only invite your top 5 or 6 people first, and ask them if they'd like an invite. If they say yes, great! And THEN you can pm them the link to the party: (insert FB event page link) THEN, after we have a five or six Goings, you can pm the rest of your friends (50ish max - let's keep it exclusive!) and ask them if they'd like an invite. If they say yes, then invite them and pm them the link! Easy peasy! Here's a script you can copy/paste and pm to your friends (make it as personal as possible by adding their name, etc.): "Hey (Name)! I'm hosting a LIVE FB Usborne book party (insert date and time). I just discovered these books, they are SO wonderful...and the FB party is actually really fun! Do you want an invite?" There ya go, friend! I'm going to post once a day on your event page, so if you could like my comments and TAG your friends, that will really help get this party started! I'm SO excited to party with you next week! Please let me know if you have any questions! Can't wait to get your family TONS of free books! -------- (end script) -------- o Private message your hostess again the morning of her party to encourage her to remind her guests about the party that night. And just be her cheerleader! Let her know you have it all under control and that you're excited about her awesome event! Please click on the files linked above to get more ideas for hostess coaching. The trick is to develop a system so you're not reinventing the wheel with each party. I like to PM her the day she books the party, then one week out when her event page is ready, and then again the morning of. Find what works for you! Posting Tips o Only post once a day on the event page, starting a week before the party. o Pre-party posts should be fun, entertaining, and informative. Avoid sounding too 'salesy' by using a good mix! o Less is more when it comes to commenting. o Click here to see ideas for FB party games. o Create a WISH LIST for guests ahead of time, so they'll start browsing before the party! Here's how: On your ecommerce site, log into "My Account". Then, click on "Add Wish List". Then, give the Wish List a name (customer's name). Link it to the hostess's event, then save. Next, click on "Wish Lists". Under "Consultant Created" choose the customer's name and click on "Edit Book Details". Then you can start adding books to a custom wishlist that is perfect for the customer's children! At the bottom of their wishlist is a link that you can copy to share the wishlist. Copy and post it to the event page wall and tag the customer in the wall post. You won't use all of these, but get a good mix of informative, entertaining, and fun! Also, everything in parentheses are notes for you, not to be posted on the event page. Mark your calendars, set the alarm on your phone, be there or be square! Post the ages and interests of the children in your life, and I'll create a personalized wish list just for you with my top recommendations! Posts the Night of the Party: o It's a good idea to post a few reminders the night of the party, starting at one hour away: Calling all party animals! (Insert hostess's name)'s Usborne book party starts in just 1 hour! Only 30 minutes until the absolute BEST event of your life! (I may or may not be exaggerating, but it really will be pretty awesome!) See you very soon! Party starts in 15 minutes! Can't wait! Just 5 minutes until go-time! WOOT! Party Posts: o Number your posts, so people who come late can quickly catch up. o Open your eCommerce (shopping) site in a separate tab so you can quickly find and post recommendations. o Your hostess is the KEY to each party's success. Try to keep an private message going with her throughout the party, and let her know how it's going and get her feedback. Ask her to tag friends in posts, and just be her cheerleader throughout the event! o Feel free to copy/paste this content and save the pictures. A good idea is to number the pictures to match the post when you save them. o As people place orders, you'll get emails of their selections. Posting pictures during the party of the books they ordered is a great way to get other party-goers to check out titles they might not have seen! (when you post multiple pictures in a FB post, it will create a nice collage like above) o Beginning below is just one example of a 30-minute party, but feel free to adjust and find what works best for YOU! The important thing is to not reinvent the wheel for each party. Create a system and timeline that you like, and just repeat it - easy peasy! I'm using 8 p.m. as a start time for this example, and I do highly recommend looking into a FB post scheduling service (such as CinchShare, see training videos listed above) if you plan on doing lots of FB parties (it's not necessary, but it is a good investment if you'll be doing these a bunch). (8:00 p.m.) Post 1: Welcome and thank you all so much for joining us tonight for (Hostess)'s book party! We're doing PARTY POINTS for a free sticker book with your purchase (or free shipping - you would just reimburse them)!
