Sweetwater Shorty Crossbody Bag -- 9 ½ ” Tall x 9 ” Wide x 2” Deep, adjustable shoulder straps are 56” Long All Tuckaway leather items are made by hand on a 140-year old farm located in rural Randolph County, North Carolina. A leather tannery operated on the property from 1880 until the early 1900s and I am proud to be the latest to carry on the leather crafting tradition that started here. Sweetwater Shorty is a crossbody interpretation of the large Sweetwater Trail bag. Like its big cousin, Shorty focuses on two forms of embossed leather and hand-stitched details to create a unique western look. The inspiration for both bags was the Sweetwater Trail, the dirt road leading to my grandparent’s farm on the Uwharrie River in Central North Carolina. If you are searching for detail, look no further! Shorty has a soft embossed leather body with a slightly heavier, distressed waxed leather flap. The flap features a hand-stitched, hand-colored embossed leather trim with magnetic button closure and a Native American style metal charm. The bag is unlined to highlight the soft suede side of the body leather. Shorty has 2” deep leather sides, finished with hand lacing, to allow room for more essentials than many small crossbodies. The attention-grabbing braided straps are repurposed from a pair of suspenders! Both sides are adjustable. A hand-laced pad of distressed leather completes the strap. Leather is the product of a living animal and may show marks, lines, or creases acquired in life. Expect your leather bag to soften and take on its own personality with use.
