You can purchase the pattern at Trish Burr's Etsy store Or you can sign up for the Level One class for beginners on this page If this one becomes available again I will let you know. Happy Stitching! Update:The classes were lots of fun! Trish's comments on students work is so encouraging. Love her style and attention to detail. she encourages you to look at a real leaf, petal, feather and study how it grows to determine stitch direction for a realistic effect. Note: I did line this one with natural muslin which isn't necessary. I used Kona Quilter's Cotton for the the top and I was not pleased as it was too rough on the DMC cotton floss. On the next bird I used the pre-printed cotton provided in the kit, which was much gentler on the floss. When I have all my miniatures finished I will mount and frame them.

Have a look at some of these gorgeous three-dimensional works of art. Our grandmothers did some lovely embroideries but they were nothing like this.

I am so incredibly excited to share this post! I've been working on this tutorial for a while and am so happy to finally share it! Fabio Flamingo is approximately 42cm/16½in tall and 21cm/8½in from the front of his chest to the end of his body. He’s made using just yarn and toy stuffing so you don’t need any additional materials to create his long, graceful neck and elegant, curved beak. As Fabio is worked in a spiral, it’s a good idea to use a stitch marker at the start of every round – that way, you’ll avoid getting in a flap with your fabulous flamingo friend! Can’t crochet? I also have a knitted flamingo, Felipe. You’ll be pleased to know that this pattern, written in UK crochet terms, has been reviewed by professional technical editor to ensure that it’s super-easy to follow!

I caught this little guy sniffing around under my bed, and discovered that all of my loose change had somehow “accidentally” ended up in his pouch! At least he’s good at holding onto my money for me. ESPECIALLY due to the fact that, unlike most niffler patterns out there, this one boasts a spacious tube hidden behind his pouch where many many coins can be stored, making dumping them out into a fun party trick just like in the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them! Stuff you need: F (3.75mm) hook. If you are a very loose crocheter, consider going a size down; I crochet rather tightly, so your pieces might not go together right if your work comes out much larger than mine. Worsted weight yarn in black and whatever color you deem closest to the niffler’s original snout/hands/feet coloring. I used peach. Eyes (I used 12mm safety eyes) Stuffing (like Polyfil) Yarn needle Fabric glue Empty toilet paper tube Stitch marker for working in rounds (or scrap yarn if you’re cheap like me) Things you need to know: How to make and crochet in a magic circle How to chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, increase and decrease, work in the front loop only, and slip stitch (American terms) I’ve included lots of photos to explain the complicated parts. Also, the tube inside his belly means that you can surprise your friends with a TARDIS-like “bigger on the inside” capacity for coinage! And I love that the pattern is a practical one. As much as I love amigurumi, I never keep any that I make because they’re not practical. This one is! I can excuse his taking up space on my shelf because he’s also guarding my pesos! :D

I finally finished Birthday Bash, my embroidered kaleidoscope in a repeat paisley design. Actually, I finished it twice. Last week, I finished it the first time - or so I thought. I took photos and cleaned up my stitching mess. All the leftover threads were tidied and tucked away; the piece (t
