Have you heard the news?? Graphic 45's Tropical Travelogue is being released again as a Deluxe Collector's Edition! Hip-hip-horray!! This collection is so colorful and has such great tropical colors and imagery! Well in honor of the DCE I had to create something with whatever I had left from the original collection. Alas, I only had 7 sheets of paper and some little scraps left from the original collection released in 2011. Challenge time, I said to myself. Can I make a mini with just 7 sheets of paper? I'm always game for a challenge so I gave it a go. The answer is yes and here are the results. View the video flip through to see the results. Tip: When you only have a little bit of paper, use cardstock as the base for some of your pages. Then fussy cut elements and layer over the cardstock. Save every little scrap until you are finished. You’d be surprised how you can utilize those little pieces. Tip: Coat the cover of your minis with matte medium as this will make the paper stronger and protect the cover from wear and tear. Fussy cut elements in particular, benefit from this treatment and it is best to coat both the front and back sides. Love that cute little seahorse! Inside the covers before adding the signatures. Both are little pockets where you can tuck in photos, notes, memorabilia, whatever you want! I used Eileen Hull Designs by Sizzix Journal Die to cut the covers. Its a great die and really makes the task of making these style of minis go quickly. These are the 3 signatures before I bound them in the cover. Inside view of a fun tuck spot and a waterfall photo organizer. This is a tiny little book that slips into a pocket in one of the signatures. This was my first album using a Travelers Notebook size format (4x8). I got this one in binder form from Citrus Twist and LOVED it. By the time I got everything added it was the perfect size. It never would have fit in a regular elastic band type travelers notebook very well, so I love that Citrus Twist offers these in binder 4x8 size. This is the title page. I went back and added a map to the binder because I felt the white was boring. (See below) I decided to add a map of DC to the inside of the album. I felt that the white was too boring. The tags are from IACB Out and About collection by Pink Paislee I also added gold foil stickers that I got from Michaels throughout the album to personalize it to DC. I also used digital 4x8 templates from Paislee Press. UNION STATION WASHINGTON MONUMENT Although not pictured here, I went back and made this layout open out to more pictures with a pocket to hold the brochure just like I did for Lincoln and Jefferson Memorial layouts. MUSEUM OF AMERICAN HISTORY THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES I adhered a couple of postcards that I purchased in the museum store back to back since there wasn't any photography allowed of the historic documents. THE WHITE HOUSE This was the end of Day 1. For photos that didn't fall into a category I switched up my format a bit, just to play with the traveler's notebook size. JEFFERSON MEMORIAL I created a trifold pocket to hold the brochure and love that it fits in this 4x8 travelers notebook just perfectly. I collected coins wherever I could for the monuments and adhered them with a glue dot. They add fun dimensionand personalization. FDR MEMORIAL This brochure pocket doesn't fold out, because I didn't have that many photos. MLK MEMORIAL KOREAN WAR MEMORIAL A page to include sweet baby Devi who was a trooper in the cold. LINCOLN MEMORIAL Another tri fold spread with a pocket for the brochure. VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL WWII MEMORIAL CHERRY BLOSSOMS Although we missed peak season by a couple weeks, I was happy to find a few blossoms. NATIONAL AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM US CAPITOL NATIONAL MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY And the last page.... This photo shows the maps I adhered to the inside of the album covers in better detail.

These are all the pages from my last notebook. Thinking about the number of pages took me really a lot of time. Actually I can be lost in these kind of (irrelevant points) for ever. My goal was all the pages to be linked in a way so they can become something more: a mandala. This is not now as far as I also used in the previous notebook. Al together needs to fix into a frame so only a few number of pages could fulfit this condition. I decided to draw Golden Spiral (based on Golden Ratio) along the notebook. Well, there are other elements to link different pages which I maybe explain one day. The orange circle in the center is the main reference to organize the pages as a puzzle. It's clear the notebook is full of orange dots in everywhere. When joining dots, Golden Spiral appears. Also the devil wanted to join the party. He puts his claws in the Earth. Maybe he manages the curve. Or just a coincidence, which is even more intriguing.
