Hello crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on Paige’s blog today to share with you this traveler’s notebook styled journal I created using the new—and BEAUTIFUL—Splendid collection! Since seeing the first sneak peeks of the Splendid collection, I knew I had to make a journal with it. When Bungalow Lane came out last year, a journal was one of my first projects with it, and I had SO much fun putting it together and using it to document my family’s visit to the local pumpkin farm. I wanted to recreate that experience with Splendid and I can’t wait to fill this journal up with memories! To create the base of this journal, I started with five sheets of 8 x 8-inch paper that I folded in half. To add more character to the project, I also included a 3 x 4-inch page that I cut from Paper 24 and a tag-shaped page that I cut from Paper 22. To bind the pages together, I first started by poking holes with awl at half-inch intervals down the length of the journal. I then used white embroidery thread to saddle stitch all of the pages together. To embellish the cover of this project, I tore strips of paper that were 8 inches in length and layered them one over the next. I then hand-stitched one of the flowers from the Cross Stitch Kit and layered that up amongst some leaves from the Floral Die Cuts. One thing I love about Paige’s collections is that she always includes plenty of flowers! To create a garden-esque feel, I added a couple of bees tucked in with the leaves. Finally, I added a title at the bottom of the cover using a sentiment from the Epoxy Stickers and some of the mini Thickers. To embellish the rest of the album, I first created a few pockets using torn strips of paper. I love adding tuck spots to my projects to hold any extra photos or memorabilia. For extra journaling spots, I used some cut-aparts from Paper 24 and some cards from the Ephemera Die Cuts and added them throughout the journal using some cute clips, including the Heart Paper Clips. I always love using the 2x2 Paper Pads to add photo mats throughout projects, so I did the same here with this journal. I added these to a few pages and layered them up with pieces from the 8-Page Sticker Book, Chipboard Stickers, and Layered Bouquet Stickers. To finish off the album in my true-to-self fashion, I added a mix of charms. I love the Flower Charms from the Splendid collection so I added one of those and a couple of others from my stash that coordinated well with the theme. Thanks so much for stopping by my post today! I hope you feel inspired to create your own project with this gorgeous collection! I’ll see you next time with another fun project! I don't think you'll be surprised to know that I haven't actually stuck to one documenting style in my Midori in the past few weeks. I've kept up with some weeks of my MTN diary, but nothing too concrete. If you follow my Instagram (@lettersinnovember), you would have seen the variety of pages / spreads done up but never really followed through. So instead of creating multiple posts regarding all the projects I've done in my MTN, here are some pictures and notes on some of them: In regards to my MTN diary, I've done just two extra pages since the last post (which isn't great, I know). I missed out most of September, and have only started it up again for design team projects. So don't be surprised if it dies out again right after: I started a Chronodex booklet when October began, needing something dated in my life for once. Initially, my (not too great) bookbinding abilities led me to put away my Chronodex booklet, but after letting it sit on my desk for a while, I decided to pick it up again and start in it. Because the booklet started from the end of June, I had half a booklet of empty pages to waste. So instead of keeping it blank, I decided to fill it with memories collected from my days in October, and here's a look at some of the pages I've created in it: When it comes to creating pages in regular notebooks, I've done some here and there with nothing absolute solid: I'm still in the process of creating a notebook for my trip to Paris in November, but because I haven't decided which notebook (grid / plain / kraft?!) to use yet, it's still in the works.
These beauty will be in store soon. We are expecting its release in our store end of April. Please reserve yours by sending us an e-mail at [email protected] with 'LIMITED EDITION TN WAITINGLIST" in the subject header. Thank you. This is a picture we took at the Midori HQ in Tokyo. It was beyond our expectations, the color of the leather is just so beautiful. And we absolutely love the green band that comes with it (see the picure above). The stickers and the charms (both leather tags and metal ones) are beautiful too. We can't wait to receive our stock so we can dispatch these to you!

I've published templates before that help you print your own notebook inserts. Today I'm publishing a set of easy-to-use templates for users of both A4 and Letter size paper that should make the job easier than ever. I've designed a stylish title page for these new templates: Inside, you can choose between four styles: Ruled, Narrow Ruled, Grid and Small Grid. Here's what they look like: RULED NARROW RULED GRID SMALL GRID You can download each of these as PDF files formatted for print on either A4 or Letter paper using the links below. RULED: A4 format Letter format NARROW RULED: A4 format Letter format GRID: A4 format Letter format SMALL GRID: A4 format Letter format What you'll download is a file that is ready to print straight away, without any need to use booklet format on your printer. Just print this straight to A4 or Letter as appropriate, with duplex set to flip on the short edge (I'd recommend you print just one or two pages first to make sure your printer deals with this correctly and make adjustments as necessary.) Once you've printed out the pages, you can bind them into a booklet and cut to size using these instructions:
Over the course of 3 years of carrying Traveler's Notebook collection at our shop, we have heard different insights and feedback from our lovely community. One thing our customers wished often... was accessories for the notebook that brought more tactile experience. Something that would feel as nice as Traveler's Notebook leather cover itself and can tolerate the everyday heavy usage. So we have been collaborating with the team of 1.61 Soft Goods (we also carry some of their products at our shop:) to make it happen! I combed through all the past correspondence I had with our Traveler's Notebook customers to gather insights in order to create artifacts that are beautiful but also useful! We are happy to launch two brand new items today at our shop - [Essential] and [Portfolio]! [Essential] - available with white or black zipper details. We think that the name "Essential" is perfect for this item! Dictionary defines the word as "absolutely necessary; extremely important." and we feel that this little beauty can do exactly that! To carry things that are absolutely necessary during your adventure and help you stay organized! We heard that a lot of our customers are using their Traveler's Notebook as their wallet... so we wanted to create a perfect spot to keep credit cards, cash and checkbook, etc... securely. The other half of the [Essential] is a sturdy zipper case to accommodate anything and everything loose! You can fit your creative tools like pens and rulers to accompany your journaling process or use the zipper case to correct special memorandum from the vacation. When we were designing and making some serious decisions, there was a discussion of "hand stitch - aka saddle stitch" vs. "machine stitch". Machine stitch will be cheaper to produce because it can be sewn a lot faster... but hand stitch will make more durable products. Once we laid out all the facts, it was an easy decision for us! Definitely hand stitch to make sure that [Essential] can live as long as your Traveler's Notebook... (or even outlast it!) So overall construction of the [Essential] is hand stitched except the zipper part. Same philosophy went in when we picked the hardware. Plastic zipper would have been cheaper but brass zipper will be more durable. (and who wouldn't love the look of well worn in brass hardware, right??). The leather is hand finished using 1.61 original leather conditioner with cedar oil. When you open the package, the leather might still have a little bit of aroma from the conditioner. It's pleasant and makes you feel like you are in a forest! The smell of conditioner will eventually disappear over time. Like a lot of the nude leather, the leather will age with time, exposure to the sun and wearing in! **scroll down to read more about [Portfolio]! [Portfolio] [Portfolio] is more of an open container for all things loose like itinerary, map and receipts. Items that might be bit too tall to fit in [Essential] will easily fit in this case! We love the minimalistic look of [Portfolio] with clever design details. The side panel has a diagonal slot that is perfect for keeping business cards or most frequently used cards. The right panel has a horizontal slot that can hold Passport or small notebooks like Field Notes. We love the versatility of [Portfolio]... It is also hand stitched and hand finished in the same way as [Essential]! If you scroll down, you can compare the picture of Traveler's Notebook with one or two leather inserts. I personally enjoy the feel of "full" notebook! (makes me feel that there is so much inspiration to dig in:) Traveler's Notebook with a blank refill with one leather insert. Traveler's Notebook with a blank refill with two leather insert.

Nothing is done by machine! Because of this, there will be very slight measurement variances. I do my absolute best to cut perfectly! Full grain leather comes from an animal and is a natural product, therefore you will find variations in coloring, leather texture and markings. Natural variations in color, tone and texture will be highlighted from hand dyeing and rubbing. This is all part of leather's natural beauty. All notebooks are unique! I recently started using the Midori-style traveler's notebook as a planner, and it has changed my life.
For all the travelers who have a free spirit. Our favorite creative life organizer system, the globally known TRAVELER'S COMPANY journal begins here with the leather cover starter kit. This is the Standard TRAVELER'S notebook cover in Brown leather. Fully customizable, browse the collection and add on the refills and accessories that fit the demands of your lifestyle. What to ExpectYour journal will arrive in a cotton case, with a blank TRC 003 notebook and spare elastic band in a contrasting color. Care instructions and other new user information is also included. The naturally dyed, handcut cowhide cover will likely have a powdery substance on it when you first open it. This is the natural fat of the leather and can be wiped away with a damp cloth. Over time, the leather will become more attractive as you work, live, and travel with it. The simple and rustic texture is self-assertive in an unobtrusive way. That's the appeal of TRAVELER'S COMPANY. What to ExploreWill your TRAVELER'S notebook be a planner? Daily diary? Travel sketchbook? Film log? With the variety of TRC refills and accessories, you can do whatever you like. The majority of TRC refill notebooks boast high quality paper specially crafted in Japan, which are enjoyed by writing aficionados and artists of all kinds. The journal itself, available in both Standard and Passport sizes, is a great size for traveling. Many items such as maps, tickets, and mementos can easily be kept inside your TRAVELER'S, either loose or in one of several specialized TRC accessories. We love the tactile experience and sense of confidence that comes from carrying an everything-in-one-place TRAVELER'S notebook, and we hope you do too! Measures 8.58" x 5.1" x 0.4" (H 218 x W 130 x D 10mm).
Hey Hey Hey scrappy people! It’s week three in my “Sketchy Sunday” series and I have another Traveler’s Notebook sketch for you! I got a little creative with this one and added in some fun stitching!
Hi everyone! As soon as I post an updated planner setup, I get an urge to switch planners. I'm now using a Fauxdori as my main planner. If you'll remember, I used one exactly a year ago. I got it for my birthday and I was determined to use it as wallet and planner. Well, that didn't work out so well. It got too thick for me. Although I love chunky planners in photos of other people's, I find it hard to carry one around when it gets too chunky. It also makes it difficult for me to grasp in one hand. I hope that wasn't confusing. Lol. I did use it as a planner for two months but missed the rings on my Filofax so I switched back to rings again. This time, I only have two notebooks in here. It's still a little chunky because of all my doo-dads in there, but it's much less chunky than what I had before. I have the DIyfish inserts for October and a brain dump/reference notebook. Here's a short flip-through of my setup. If you have any questions, please let me know in the comments. I know I'll switch back to rings again someday, especially because I have wonderful inserts for 2015. I'll show you those inserts in my next post. But for now I'm enjoying this! Thanks for visiting everyone!
