Learn how easy it is to make a Fabric Traveler’s Notebook Cover! Several years ago I began using a traveler’s notebook. When I first bought it, I wasn’t sure if I’d like it or not, but over time I’ve grown…
I had the opportunity to use dollars in Cambodia recently. Having US dollars in the pocket creates feeling which don't happen with other currencies. US dollar pushes you to spend money. It also gives you a kind of power, even when you carry just a few dollars. It's all about psychology. Anyways, here I show a tribute to dollar and money in general. A weird entity everybody use but not many people understand. Meaning of money now is so different from some decades ago since it's not just a value keeping but a complex system of rights and taxes. However it remains the same in people's mind. Maybe it's because notes in paper are the same. And yes, again: Mickey Mouse is not your friend. He doesn't love you!
I've been searching for a perfect little notebook for all my needs, most serve the note taking purpose but lacks photo journaling features, GTD elements, or refillable with nice leather covers. I have a passion for Moleskine and Traveler's Notebook, but a product with the combination of their features, in addition to some of my own note taking practice, is difficult to find. So I set out to play with some customizations and adaptations on scrap materials....... More on Scription blog: moleskine.vox.com/library/post/elements-of-my-perfect-lit...
Optimizing the luggage is a never ending task. I do it with pleasure and it gives me great results and a new way of traveling. Regarding the writing tools I remember the days, before discovering so many fountain pens and inks, when all was easier. There are some requirements: Full performance, simple and light. I can carry everything with me in any moment and in everywhere. "My atelier is the real world" Currently I use the following items: -My handmade notebook. -MUJI passport notebook for fast notes. -"Happy Every Day" case. I found it in 7 Eleven in Bangkok. -Two tiny kits of watercolors. -Plastic ruler. -Pencil. -Brush. -Two Stabilo markers: orange and turquoise. -TWSBI 580 EF fountain pen. -Two Lamy fountain pens. -Preppy fountain pen. -Kaweco fountain pen. -Two disposable Zebra brushes. -Pigma Micron 005. -Pilot G-3. -Rotring mechanical pencil. -Rotring Isograph 0,10. -Rotring Isograph 0,18. -Glue. -Eraser. -Airmail masking tape. -Tiny pencil sand color. Together with this I carry another case with spares of some of the pens, glue and inks for fountain pens.
Even today, a lot of people carry around notebooks filled with daily reminders, significant dates, thoughts, and other important information. But there's an artist who uses notebooks to make amazing art. Jose Naranja creates breath-taking and well-thought-out notebooks from scratch.

Just for fun. Have you ever tried to figure out how the aliens will look like? Hurry up, we are so near to discover them! Here is my prediction. Actually I did three shots: Worm shape, sphere shape and noodles shape.
Angkor Wat in watercolor style. Also writing about a new discovery: No head Buddha. Negative thinking? Practice no head. No thinking at all! I guess it's my favorite Buddha from now on. Better even the laying Buddha.
Do you like Stratego? I'm quite obsessed with it lately. I rediscovered Stratego since many years completely forgotten. Great game, one of the best ever. I used to play when I was a kid, just for fun. Now I appreciate its complexity and enjoy much more going deeper in the details. I could describe it like a mix of chess and poker. I consider really important to play these kind of games, same as chess or similar board games. In the same way people can be split between who read and who don't or other many criteria, I realized it's same for games. Those who use to play complex games develop a higher sense of administration of resources, balance risks, manage time and chances, etc. So useful in real life: Economics, negotiations, decisions, etc. That's why I suggest playing games, specially in early ages. Funny and improve some superpowers. I played with friend and neighbor using the version made in the 80s. Actually the game was his property and time later I did my own version, home made and super low cost. Those days when TV or toys magazines added the note: "Alert: More than 5000 pesetas (30€)!" For a kid's mind that meant forget about getting it. Unfortunately the current version is a shame. Stickers on cheap plastic pieces and horrible characters design. Immediately I thought about creating a new version. And that was the seed for bigger idea: Creating a whole new game based in the same mechanism but adding new key points. Whether it goes well or not the creative process is fully fascinating and it opens the door to new ideas coming in the way. But that's another story. Btw, Stratego is an evolution from old Chinese game Dou Shou Qi, which also hocked me in the last weeks. I'm making an aesthetic version, but again that's part of another post coming. New released based in version from 80s. Photo from Amazon. What? Dark character man playing the role of spy disappeared and it's is a woman instead in the version based in the 80s version (not the one with stickers).
Jose Naranja, a self-described “notebookmaker,” creates works of art out of the typical writing pad. He sells these notes in the form of “The Orange Manuscript,” an elaborate, multilingual exploration of the writer/artist’s mind and observations. The artist considers the work “a love letter to notebooks, a flight of fancy and also a part of me.”
Travelling leaves you speechless and then turns you into a storyteller. So why not pen down your stories and document your memories in a travel journal?

Cosmos sets the rules. We just try to adapt to them. Adversity is a trigger force and we should take advantage of it in order to improve ourselves. Fight against that force is useless. Manage it and dance with it is better.

Process for little watercolors. I chose these three colors in order to master the art of maps. Now I realize they cover so many other scenarios and add the perfect atmosphere. Actually I used mostly only two of them. Watercolors are Winsor & Newton numbers Raw Sienna (552), Burnt Sienna (074) and Turquoise (654). Oh, loving turquoise and the palette it can generate.

Travel journalling is HARD. Every time I try to keep a regular journal on the road I give up- it's way too much effort. Read on for instructions to download a printable template.

When Lance saw this album he called it my "super album'. Yup - it's a big one! I tried to edit it down (and did take out a few photos), but decided I really liked everything that was in it. It's still manageable to flip through and will be easy...
