Fall in Japan refreshes us with its cooler temperatures and crisp weather. The main highlight of the season is the fall colors in Japan, called koyo in Japanese, transforming Japan into a wonderland of vivid hues. The Adirondacks in the state of New York or Llanrwst in Wales are world-famous autumn leaf spots. However, Japan’s fall foliage spots are defined by the serene and pure beauty that comes from a unique harmony between nature and man-made buildings and structures. To let you savor this tranquil spectacle of the seasons, we’re taking you to eight iconic fall leaf spots throughout Japan, show you how to get there, and when to make the most out of the colorful foliage!

The facade of Orchard House is surrounded by a charming outdoor display. Inside are a holiday scene, and rooms depicting the personalities of the four sisters. Reiko Washizawa interprets the oldest sister, Meg. Kathy Nakajimo presents the boyish Jo. Suzuko Koseki portrays the quiet Beth. Yoko Saito depicts Amy—the youngest sister and a talented artist. In November I went to Wendy Williams workshop in one of Sydney's famous patchwork shops - Material Obsession. The shop belongs to Kathy Doughty, one of the greatest patchwork designers, they have many wonderful classes there. Wendy Williams's first book (see the cover below) is full of great and beautiful projects, big and small: I bought this book at the last Sydney Quilt show, here are some pictures: Работы яркие, чудесно сочетающие классический пэчворк и аппликацию валяной шерстью и фелтом (на английском это felted wool and felt) На занятии было человек девять, совершенно разного возраста, разных профессий, что очень интересно. Wendy in the center - the workshop in progress. I made some pictures of Wendy Williams's works - details, stitches: д. My classmate's and my circles - just imagine what can be done with them later :-) А это в конце класса мы сложили все наши заготовки - представьте все это на льняной основе, например :-) In the end of the workshop we made a picture of all our "flowers" together: Я почти закончила своих птиц, а это следующая небольшая работа, которая меня ждет :-) My next small project by Wendy Williams - the kit is waiting for me: Джакаранды у нас отцвели, так что покажу вам , как это было в ноябре :-) Jacarandas were in bloom in November - so beautiful! Have a nice day!
