This is the fourth year for our sculpture unit. Each child in our preK program creates a sculpture. This project takes two class periods to create the sculptures, one class to paint and two class periods to glue on the collage items. You will need--- *LOTS of cardboard tubes. We store the tubes in kitchen size garbage bags---3 bags of tubes was enough for 30 students. *Sturdy paper plates *Hot glue *Collage items *Glue two paper plates together to create a sturdy base for your sculpture. *Some of the tubes are cut at an angle or fringed. I did this by request this year. Next year, I will have tubes pre-cut or fringed to save time. I also plan to hole punch some on the ends. *Paint sculpture and use one inch foam brushes. Painted Sculptures Tissue Paper One little artist added tissue paper squares to her piece... Finally, we add puzzle pieces, googly eyes, poms, die cuts, pipe cleaners, playing cards, etc. Your child can continue to add to their sculpture at home. Paint, add office stickers, glue more collage items, write a story about the pieces or add more tubes. Check out these past blogs for more ideas and places to go in the Peoria area to see sculptures. http://metamoracommunityprek.blogspot.com/2012/02/sculpture-unit-2012.html http://metamoracommunityprek.blogspot.com/2011/03/sculpture-unit-2011.html http://metamoracommunityprek.blogspot.com/2010/04/sculptures.html
