Here we have an extraordinarily rare Colombianite crystal from the Valle del Cauca, near Cali, Colombia. Colombianite is a sacred stone of the indigenous Muisca tribes of Western Colombia. Natives call it “Piedra Rayo”, which means “Lightning Stone." It is considered to be a deeply sacred stone of Divine origin. As the photos show (some with backlighting), it looks like a regular Black Tektite, but it is clear like glass when light is shined behind it, and may have a mild gray-lavender tint. As far as its composition, the most thorough study was done by the Geology Department at the University of Ljubljana in partnership with the Museum of Natural History (Slovenia), which concluded that it is a very old and well preserved Obsidian with Tektite forms (Pseudotektite). What is still inexplicable is how these stones have survived an incredible 30 million years (Obsidian is very unstable in nature and rarely exceeds a few million years). ABOUT THIS CRYSTAL This is a beautiful, and nicely sized, Colombianite from this collection. If you're familiar with Colombianite, then you know how it can be extremely challenging to find pieces of this size (20g+). This piece has a rounded and slightly flattened "saucer" formation with a nice lustrous sheen and mildly pitted markings throughout. What we're really impressed with is that for how thick and it is, it still passes light *incredibly* well (see Photos 1-2 and video). We would consider this a "First" or "A" Grade piece, rather than a "Museum Grade" piece as the pitted markings are not very deep or well-defined and it's not quite as lustrous as the higher grade pieces tend to be. However, it's still a great piece and a wonderful value. MEASUREMENTS Approx 3.25 cm x 2.75 cm x 1.75 cm Weight: 20g ABOUT GRADE *Please note, we've come up with these grades with our source for these stones to make it a little more clear in terms of how we price and what we offer. As quality can be subjective, we have done our best to come up with specific characteristics we look for when describing and categorizing these stones. Museum Grade - Specimens with round, ovular and saucer-like (or otherwise aesthetic) shapes, high luster, deep black color, consistent pitting and patterning, and superb translucency. First Grade or "A" Grade - Specimens that are well-formed but may have slight variations to their shape, high luster and rich black color, consistent pitting and patterning and excellent translucency. These specimens tend to be similar to Museum Grade, but may lack the level of luster or translucency, or may have irregular formations or patterning, with some smoother areas as well. "B" Grade - These specimens may have a slightly duller complexion, with less luster and more more of a charcoal gray hue, as opposed to deep pitch black. They may still have rounded or ovular formations, or they may have irregular shapes and forms. There is still an element of translucency that is often quite high, or it may be slightly less. They may have larger smooth areas where there is no pitting. "C" Grade - These specimens have irregular and sometimes fragmented formations and are often smooth, like seaglass. They may exhibit fractures or chipped areas. They still exhibit translucency that can range from high to low. ________________________________ ABOUT COLOMBIANITE Colombianite is a sacred Stone of the Colombian Indians from the Muisca tribes. Natives call it “Piedra Rayo”, which means “Lightning Stone," and it is considered to have a Divine origin. Healers use it for communication with the invisible. In cooperation with the Geology Department (University of Ljubljana) and Museum of Natural History, we performed an extensive comparison study between different types of Tektites. The conclusion was that it is a very old and well preserved Obsidian with Tektite forms (Pseudotektite). Interestingly, it has survived an incredible 30 million years (Obsidian is very unstable in nature and rarely exceeds a few million years). These crystals hold an extremely high vibration that is comparable only to Saffordite (Cinamani Stone), though its energy is considered to be somewhat gentler and more subtle. Colombianite aids in "lighting the way" for those who are awakening to a spiritual path, opening the heart and awakening the senses. It helps to develop a relationship with our higher selves and our cosmic consciousness. It is an extremely useful crystal for those who are pursuing a path as a healer.
Meet Mini Divine Mercy Jesus! The feast of Divine Mercy is celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter Sunday On February 22, 1931, Jesus appeared to St. Faustina, a Polish nun, and delivered the message of Divine Mercy. Jesus asked St. Faustina to have an image painted of him standing with two rays coming from his chest, with the words, "Jesus, I trust in You" underneath. The rays represented the blood and water that poured out when he was pierced by the lance after his crucifixion. Jesus instructed St. Faustina that this image would be a reminder to all mankind of God's endless mercy. Jesus said it should also be a reminder to us that we are called to show God's love and mercy to others as well. "Lay your head on my shoulder, rest and regain your strength. Monet's influence is crucial to what Willibald Sauerländer considers to be Manet's “conversion” to Impressionism. Yet their acquaintance was not always amiable. Two paintings made by Manet in the summer of 1874 are the subject of Sauerländer’s new book, Manet Paints Monet: A Summer in Argenteuil, which Colin B. Bailey reviews in The New York Review’s April 23 issue.

Christiansen (1895) DIMENSIONS • 9" x 12" (Image: 7.5" x 8.81") • 12" x 16" (Image: 10" x 11.75") • 16" x 20" (Image: 13" x 15.25") • 20" x 24" (Image: 16" x 18.75") • 24" x 30" (Image: 19" x 22.31") Archival Inkjet on Fine Art Paper Smooth Surface - Matte Finish - Inset Borders ART-CENTRIC DESIGN ----------------------------- Vintage art is not standardized. The original works are usually too long, or too short, to neatly fill a store-bought frame. Most shops arbitrarily crop the artwork to match, leading to claustrophobic prints with missing or partial elements. These modifications — sometimes trivial, sometimes ludicrous — are not always shown in the product photos. We believe that the purpose of art is not to fill a frame; it is the purpose of a frame to showcase the art. Our prints have inset borders that make up any differences in proportion between the artwork and a standard frame, so that you can experience the art as the artist intended. They look sharp in beveled mats, may be float mounted, or inserted directly into standard frames; the borders providing a mat-like accent around the image. There are many styles from which to choose. Framing is a fun, creative process that enhances the artwork and livens your space for years to come. Should you like any advice, feel free to reach out. CUSTOMIZATION AND IMAGE REQUESTS ----------------------------- We are happy to customize our prints to fit your frame. Borderless prints may require the artwork to be cropped to fit a new aspect ratio. In such cases, we will provide a mockup to ensure that the final product meets with your approval. If you’re looking for an artwork that is not in our catalog, feel free to ask if we can provide it. We will print any public domain or openly licensed image that is available in high resolution. MUSEUM QUALITY ----------------------------- Giclée process prints are the gold standard in fine art reproduction. We use a matte finish, cotton fiber paper to maximize detail while eliminating glare. Our prints display a wide color gamut, deep blacks and beautiful tonal transitions. Produced using only archival materials, they will not fade or yellow, but maintain their original quality for as long as you own them. HANDMADE DECLARATION ----------------------------- To assure artistic quality, all of our production and design is strictly in-house. Every print has been proofed, calibrated and inspected for defects. We do not drop ship, resell or make use of third-party production partners. SHIPPING AND PACKAGING ----------------------------- All orders ship within one business day via USPS First Class, Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express. Sizes 9” x 12” and 12” x 16” ship in a flat configuration, unless combined with larger prints, which require tubes. We will replace any lost or damaged items at no expense to you. HAPPINESS GUARANTEE ----------------------------- We will promptly address any issues that may arise with your order. If you are unhappy with your print for any reason, you are welcome to return it for a full refund.
