One of a kind altered book using vintage images. This whimsical 3D collage housed in a book from the past is both a great gift and a conversation piece. By Beth Kattleman. From the artist: *** "Eve Adams was regarded by most men as being a cold-blooded gal. She considered the patriarchy to be, well, archaic and had no use for the performative passions and pending promises of suitors who failed to bear fruit. To hell with them all! While strolling through the woods one late afternoon, Eve espied a serpent basking in the sun. She thought it very beautiful and was tempted to touch its smooth scales but it slithered away and disappeared into the depths of a moss-covered cave. Tentatively, Eve tiptoed toward the entrance and peered within. A shaft of sunlight lit up a corner of the gloomy grotto exposing a den of vipers! Generations of them! Eve, ever curious, stepped inside…and was never seen again. Thereafter, every man in Eve's village would be jolted awake each day before dawn, as if by a synchronized alarm clock, convinced that his slumber had been cut short by the sound of a sibilant hissssssss and the lingering scent of perfume in the air. Our Lady Eve was originally found in the garden of a Ladies Home Journal advertising facial creams. Her slithery soulmates were formerly found in various vintage field guides. They've all been relocated to a cozy cavern within a 1942 publication of Philip Wylie's Generation of Vipers, a jeremiad attacking the complacencies of the American way of life. Wylie, one of the founders of The New Yorker, was a crusty curmudgeon with not a lot of nice things to say about women, surprise surprise. Eve, gather your serpents!" *** CCOABK110
