This is a one of a kind pendant carved out of an avocado pit (which is also often called a "stone"). Even though sometimes I do repeat similar designs on my pendants, but the unique nature of every avocado stone, as well as my own artistic spirit never lets two pendants be exactly the same... 😜 I carved it myself, using mostly X-acto knife. The string is about 25-30inches long (total length) waxed cotton thread, and you can easily shorten it to your liking (or let me know if you want it longer, I can provide a longer string too). CARE AND HANDLING: The pendant was treated with boiled linseed oil to make it more durable and more water resistant. But yet, I would strongly recommend to handle it with care and remember to take it off before going in the water, since excessive exposure to water (or direct sunlight, or harsh chemicals) might damage it.

This northern part of Provence has a special charm imbued with a strong sense of authenticity. The valleys, where vineyards and olive groves mingle, have something of a Tuscan feel. The small hilltop villages come to life when the Provencal markets take place, but have nonetheless protected their souls from crowds of tourists. Mont Ventoux, an icon throughout the region, combines both majesty and protection. The Domaine d'Arfuyen, located in the Dentelles de Montmirail massif, boasts an exceptional setting featuring cliffs, mountains, scrubland and Mediterranean species across an area of fifty hectares. It is both far from everything and close to Vaison-la-Romaine. The valley is a haven of peace, sheltered from the mistral and soothed by the hum of the cicadas. The sources are never far away. This house was the perfect place for our large family. Everything needed to be rethought and renovated which gave us the opportunity to shape the property to our liking.

Sunday morning I played around with new stones thinking they were going to be grey but perhaps because it is the bleak mid-winter the stones turned a warmer colour. This piece is inspired by Mark's paintings of stones disappearing under water. He is brilliant at that. For both of us scenes like this bring up whisperings of summers spent on beautiful Georgean Bay. For those of you in Toronto don't forget The Artist Project at the Better Living Centre February 21-14, 2019 Mark Berens will be at Booth 506. Strips of plant dyed fabrics soon to become rocks. By Sunday evening I was happily couching away. I have based the background onto an old blanket and it is like stitching butter. The one thing about this kind of stitching is it allows for mind wandering and as I stitched these delicious rusts and browns my mind whispered memories of my beautiful Rusty Pups They are dearly missed As are their antics and adventures. And then as I prepared this post A photo demanded to be noticed So much like my new stones. I have a teacher who always says the piece you start next should always be informed by the last piece you did. Perhaps this means my next piece will have to be seaweed in the colours of my Georgean Bay stones. But I already have soooo many new beginnings just started! But my mind is flowing with ideas on how to go about a seaweed piece. It is so easy to have many ideas isn't it The days just aren't long enough for their execution! I hope you have a day rich in creative ideas.

Handmade macramé necklace with Labradorite. This macramé work is realized with waxed cord, natural stone and bronze beads. The closure of the necklace is a sliding closure. The waxed thread is durable and resistant. This work has been created with the micro macramé technique. The waxed thread used in this piece is thinner than usual, which is why it looks more delicate and elegant and fits perfectly with the chosen stone. "Weaving What I Feel" is the name of the new macramé collection I am creating. In a moment of little inspiration and few ideas, I said to myself: sit down, grab some thread and stone and weave what you feel. The idea is to create without a previous idea, but to let yourself go and create what comes from the heart. It is learning that creativity has no limits. The necklace is absolutely exclusive, individual and created with a lot of love. This mystical stone will exalt the magic that is hidden in yourself. LABRADORITE PROPERTIES -Mystical properties -Self-discovery and intuition -Protective - Enhance self-awareness -Dispels fears and insecurities A SPECIAL AND EXCLUSIVE GIFT FOR YOURSELF OR YOUR LOVED ONES FREE SHIPPING
The work of Gloucestershire textile artist Louise Watson is all about the power of noticing: the subtle colour of pebbles on a path, the ethereal wisp of a feather, the earthy texture of seed pods.

Thick cord necklace hand-woven in black waxed thread with natural labradorite stone and amethyst beads. Labradorite is a highly protective stone. Captures and eliminates negative energies. It provides clarity and mental calm, and energetic protection, facilitating the opening of consciousness and promoting inner balance. Increases tranquility and harmonizes the aura. Helps in mental and physical regeneration after periods of energy fatigue. Amethyst is a stone that transmutes low vibration (negative) energies, whether intrusive thoughts or negativity, helping to calm everyday life. It provides general peace and mental tranquility. It is linked to the upper chakras, intuition (third eye) and connection with the divine (crown), stimulating imagination, creativity and mental clarity. The size is adjustable with a sliding knot so you can adjust the length to your preference. The design is designed for your greatest comfort, it can be used and stored easily. Each Raíces del Hoy jewel is unique and special, just like you. No crystal is the same as another. Macramé jewelry is highly durable, however if you want it to be with you for years, try not to submerge it in water (especially in the pool and sea) so that it doesn't wear out or get the fabric dirty. I hope you'll be with me for a long time <3

Back in the good old summertime this is what a stone pathway looked like Lovely but to me not looking like a pathway. So For three days last week I unpicked all that work! The tools of an unpicker include a beautiful thread cutter (A gift from the Mahone Bay Quilt Group) and duct tape the inventors of which would never have imagined their tape would be part of a stitchers tool box. With all that unpicking threads were sticking to everything. Then I remembered a tip from years back. Snip the stitches on the wrong side Lay some tape over the stitches on the right side. Pull back the tape and voila the threads can't escape that sticky surface! That unpicking took me three days. I did take breaks like the day we walked the Rusty Pups up the mountain in deep virgin snow. Since then I have spent days trimming and stitching stones into what I think looks more like pathways. I am content. As you can see I now have a mountain of trimmings for which I will find another project. May your days be filled with stitching things together and not so much taking them apart!
