I can’t tell you how obsessed I am with this badge. @sirmazbit thank you so much for commissioning this baby! It has been challenging and fun and turned out absolutely beauuuuutiful!! ✨💚👽✨👽💚✨...
Carole (from New Zealand) made the QB5ers a "snippet roll" for Christmas. It's suspended from what I call a thread spool and some people in other lands call a cotton reel. (a cotton reel sounds to this Texas girl like a cross between the Cotton-Eyed Joe and Virginia Reel.... those are dances) ...but I digress.... Isn't it pretty? It has fabric, lace, paper, etc.... all those things we love are stitched together. I can leave it as is and suspend it somewhere... or roll it up... but I may use it as a closure on a future Remains of the Day book!!! What do you think? ...and my thanks to Margaret (in Switzerland) for the use of her photo (top one). I've been waiting for it. *****Carole has a tutorial for snippet rolls on her blog right now!
As a child, I was completely obsessed with the Christmas catalogs that would deluge our…
What could be easier than pleats? As it turns out, these little devils aren’t as straightforward as we thought.

I promised a reader that I would post a tutorial about the Kenmore 158 tension assembly. As best as I can tell, the 158.1701 (the assembly ...
The 401/403/404 tension assemblies are a bit different from the 201/221/301. The thumb nut on the 201 merely screws on to the tension stud....
I am obsessed with horror movies and crocheting. So, how does one meld those two interests together? By crocheting cleavers my dear viewers! This is the first release in a series of patterns I am calling Dangerous Implements. The pattern utilizes size 10 crochet thread and a 1.5 mm hook. Now, as with all of my thread based patterns, sizing up is not a problem. Just use heavier weight yarn and a corresponding hook that will give you a fairly tight fabric. Your cleaver will be gigantic, but hey, I'm not going to judge you for wanting to crochet a larger than life cleaver! Directions use US crochet terminology and abbreviations and are appropriate for an experienced beginner and beyond. Show your love for horror movies, decorate your Halloween tree with cleaver ornaments or hey, just let everyone know you are an amazing cook who really likes to chop stuff up! Whatever your motivation, CROCHET A CLEAVER today!

Update a thrift store footstool using jute twine....an easy DIY project for anyone who loves a rustic look.
I do like this machine. It finally has a belt and I tried it out this morning. I can barely thread the needle since I have no use of my left thumb and the needle threads left to right. I really MUST find those needle threaders I have somewhere. It makes quite a lovely stitch and the treadle action is very smooth. I am pleased with that since I took this whole stupid thing apart this summer. I think this could be my new favorite machine
Well I know its been awhile since I posted and things are moving along on the house......slowly. We have a few new items in the shop so thought I would tell you about them....... Dale is still slowly making Turkish spindles and Josh is still making supported spindles in between work and school when he can. I think I talked about this new item several month ago, Dale made on e and then he didn't make another one. One of the girls in the spinning group asked about one over the weekend and he is now making them finally. We call it a yarn caddy, I use mine for knitting and also for plying a ball when I spindle spin. It comes with 2 cones, a fatter version and a sleeker version, they screw onto the base so are easily switched out. The base site on a ball bearing swivel so it turns or spins with ease, and the base is big enough that you never worry about it tipping over. Go to threadsthrutime etsy shop and check them out when you have the time......if they are all gone give us a little time and we will get more made. That's it for now.....I will try to get back to writing here in the blog and keep you updated on the comings and goings around the shop.
