So, you’re a new pet photographer and you have no idea how to price your sessions. In fact, it’s highly likely you are just going with a very inexpensive session fee that gives away the entire kit and kaboodle, but you are quickly realizing that that is not a sustainable way to do business.
I've had Interstitial Cystitis (IC) my entire life. I turned 26 this week, so that means 26 years of living with this chronic condition. I thought it would be helpful to share a few things I've learned on my journey to solving my IC puzzle. Here's 16 things I've learned over the years (26 was too many LOL):1. IC is not a death sentence. There is light at the end of the tunnel, but it will take time to solve your IC puzzle. Be patient, and remain optimistic. 2. Find support right away. Connectin

This is a great form if you are just in the beginning stages of doing student led conferences. It is simple and to the point. Simply have you students fill out the form prior to a parent conferences and allow them to use this as their guide during the conference. It has a focus on the positive aspect of how the student feels they are progressing. Too often conferences turn into negative things students are not doing instead of showcasing their positive traits. Topics on the form include: When I stated the school year I thought......, now I think...... The most difficult thing this year has been...... Some example of how I'm growing as a leader include...... One thing I'm proud of ......... I'm glad I've learned............ And an area to place current grades.

Evernote is my brain, my best friend, my obsession. I’m pretty sure I’m not even using it to it’s full capacity, but I do want to share how I manage my to do lists with Evernote. Each week I have certain things I want to accomplish each day. I can’t say it enough, but my previously mile long lists have become much shorter and more realistic since I’ve become a mom. My “Get Shit Done” NotebookLiterally, this notebooks sole purpose is to house my weekly to do lists. Not only does it keep things organized, but I love looking back at previous weeks to see what I managed to get done. Master To Do ListOne of my secrets to making sure things get done is to have a master to do list. Since I like to have one list for the whole week and I have quite a few things that happen on the same day each week, it’s easy to just be able to copy and paste this into the current week.
Tomorrow is my first day of *real* school! I am so excited to meet my new group for this year! Back to school night was last night. I gave my new group a very quick and easy gift. Glow bracelets or necklaces will work perfect. I’ve learned to keep it simple since the turn out...
Bubbles Show Us Jesus' Love Kids love bubbles. They are endlessly fascinating to look at, to blow, and to pop. In this series, preschoolers will play with bubbles, and through their play learn some important lessons about the love of Jesus. Bubbles 4-Week Preschool Ministry Curriculum Overview: Memory Verse: “So we know that God loves us. We depend on it. God is love.” 1 John 4:16a (NIrV) Lessons: Clear Bubbles Scripture: Luke 19:1-10, Zacchaeus As bubbles are created, kids will be encouraged to look right through them to what's on the other side. Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus, so he climbed a tree. When Jesus spoke to Zacchaeus, he realized that Jesus could see him, and knew him completely. It's clear: no matter what we face, God sees us. Objective: Kids will learn that Jesus sees us. Bubbles in The Air Scripture: Luke 5:17-26, Jesus Heals A Paralyzed Man Kids will have a contest to see how high into the air they can get their bubbles to float. When the paralyzed man wanted to get into the crowded house to see Jesus, his friends lowered him down from the roof. Just like bubbles move up and down through the air, Jesus' loves us no matter where we are or how we feel. Whether we feel up or down, good or bad, God always loves us. Objective: Kids will learn that Jesus loves us. Blowing Bubbles Scripture: Luke 9:10-17, Jesus Feeds Five Thousand Kids will blow on the wand and see if they can create more and more bubbles. When the large crowd was hungry, Jesus multiplied the food in order to feed them. Jesus cares about our needs. Objective: Kids will learn that Jesus cares about our needs. Soapy Bubbles Scripture: Luke 22:14-22, The Last Supper Kids will look at the bubbles in ordinary hand soap and see how they help us to get clean. Jesus died for us, so that we could be forgiven of the bad things we've done. If we trust Jesus, he can make us squeaky clean inside and out. Objective: Kids will learn that Jesus makes us clean. A little over five weeks ago I decided that I was going to change the way I view and practise my art. I was tired of wanting to consider myself an ‘artist’ but only occasionally making time to draw, only to be frustrated that I never had any good ideas and that my art wasn’t really improving.&nb

I've been working hard this week to get my long range plans done and I think I finally settled on a plan I am happy with. Moving to a new grade with a new group of teachers is going to be a challenge in that I'm not sure everyone will be on the same page with me. I have made certain changes to their LRP's from last year based on what I think these students need to be ready for 3rd grade next year {since that's where I coming from}. Regardless, I think I have to do what is best for my students! I created two formats. The first is a glance at the whole year month by month. This is something that I think will be great to send home with parents at the beginning of the year so they know what they can expect. The second format is mostly for me and my own planning purposes. I've updated and changed the format of the latter one a bit to better suit my needs. These long range plans reflect the 2nd grade Common Core standards for Math and ELA, but 2nd grade South Carolina standards for Science and Social Studies. You can download your own copy HERE and edit them however you would like. You will need the fonts KG Always a Good Time, KG Miss Kindergarten, and KG One More Night to view the file correctly. For instance, completing a cutting assignment all by himself. I know it’s not a big feat but for him it was." Heather F.

Assessment is a word that many educators have come to dislike, but we all know that assessment drives instruction. It is important to know where your learners are at in order to teach them effectively. My beginning literacy skills assessment is great way to see what your young learners know. We're still hacking through the parts of speech in my class. We've finished nouns, verbs, adverbs, and we're almost through adjectives. I spend about 10 minutes a day reviewing parts of speech (part of our word work). I always try to mix things up for my students. I'm lucky enough to have only 20 students this year, but of these 20, 15 are boys, 5 have I.E.P.s (with another 2 on waiting lists to be tested), and 6 have behaviour issues (and that's on a good day) - whew!. Needless to say, I HAVE to mix things up, keep things structured, yet fun, and engage them in hands-on activities as much as possible. For each part of speech we co-create anchor charts (I "borrowed" this idea for adjectives from a chart I saw on pinterest, but my students think they came up with it themselves). For their independent Word Work, I'm using the book Hot Fudge Monday - they LOVE the funny activities, and I LOVE that they actually WANT to complete the work. We also use the SMARTboard a lot so they can circle and highlight the various words on the board - and sometimes I even let them use the magic pen. ;) They also really enjoyed the poster activity we did on "Life is a Verb" (see last post). I'll have to tie something like this into each unit - it would be great to have real student created posters for each of the parts of speech. But I've got a surprise for them tomorrow. They LOVE using my Comprehension Cootie Catchers for pair share activities after their independent reading. And I mean LOVE - I've never seen a bunch of boys so excited about using cootie catchers. So, I made a Cootie Catcher Parts of Speech package for them. This activity contains a cootie catcher for common nouns, proper nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. I'll pair up two students, each with a different cootie catcher, and they can take turns identifying the correct words. I may even turn it into a little game WITH a timer going on the SMARTboard. Watch out, boys .... I told you learning can be FUN! I just posted this activity to my TPT store. Click on the picture above to preview the activity. And ... for a little extra fun, I'll send a FREE copy to the first two people to leave me a comment (with their email address) telling me their favourite way to review parts of speech. Happy Wednesday!
